Any photographers in here?

If you want into the DSLR market then get a Nikon D40. Awesome entry level body and you can get them used with two kit lenses for sub-500.

I would recommend this to anyone with a slight interest in photography. The important parts are essentially on par with anything short of D90/D300. And you can use any of the lenses in Nikon's catalog.

It has a 6.1MP sensor (and remember its not all about the megapixles) 2.5fps acceptable noise to 800.

Great size for a beginner body. Almost any Nikon lens every made will mount (with the exception of a few inward mounting fish-eyes. Super rare and old)

Seriously. Check it out. http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d40.htm

Did some fashion yesterday on a 6 hour long shoot. All outdoors. Thanks goodness it was warm for the most part though.

Making a tiny faerie out of bits of glass! it was pretty amazing to watch!

by the way, the 17-50 is completely AMAZING. It is far exceeding my expectations. at f/4, the center is razor sharp, and IQ is only degraded at the extreme edges of the photo. At higher f-stops, the image is sharp all the way to the edges. It's really a great lens.

eating a turkey leg like a CHAMP

and in this one, just being cute

Also had a chance to get to know my know flash a little better... man, flashes are tough to use effectively.
