Any Mississippi MSPs?

well, i'm a honda guy.....

and i'm driving a midnight blue 2002 protege5. i haven't decided what to do with this car yet, i know it doesn't pick up like my teggy did. Nevertheless I love the thing....and a station wagon makes for a badass sleeper.

I'll apologize in advance for being a honda guy. I think we get stuck with 90% of the ricers in the scene.

I built and boosted the Integra myself. I'm looking to do the same with this MP5, but i've got a few questions about Mazdas in general.

A) Is there a Frankenstein-style engine with the 2.0 liter block? I know mitsu has MIVEC now, and toyota has VVTi, I figured mazda had some variable valvetrain tech out there and I would love to exploit it.

B) On stock internals, what would be the maximum power output of this thing turboed. I saw MP5T's setup and others:it looked like there was a good bit of building to get at or near 300 bhp.

C) I think this thing has VICS. I've seen the intake mani and it looks like it has the butterflies like an Integra GSR manifold. A lot of times, the engine noise change on a GSR isn't vtec, it's these butterflies swapping over. I haven't heard such a transisition in the Protege5. Is this because the exhaust is quiet or is my VICS broken?

Sorry about the trouble, yes, I do use the search button but it's tough when you don't know some of the keywords to search for.

Oh, and I live up in the north part of mississippi, New Albany/Ripley/Walnut area. Anybody want to meet up? I'm bored as heck cause i'm on summer break right now.

i'm a honda guy myself. I got a b18c1 del sol full bolt-ons and a supercharger. The thing screams. And kicks my mazdaspeed 3s ass.

I see that this is an old thread but I just found it and hope someone still looks at it. I live in Hattiesburg and have a black Speed 3. we have been looking for Mazda people to meet up with. All my friends have Hondas and Acuras- which is cool I have a Honda at home too, but there's only 2 Speed 3's that I know of in Hburg, and the other guy is not into the car scene like we are.

I know some people from around that area.. are you on www.torqueaddicts.com?

My parents are in McComb, I 'm usually there on weekends. I go to hattisburg sometimes.

BTW, I hate the dealer there!

You don't have to worry about the Hattiesburg dealer anymore- they shut down. LOL
It all went to hell there when they fired their master tech and then my husband quit because they fired the other guy.
BUT... now we have to drive to either Jackson or Louisiana to get warranty work done. Blah

That's a shame. I almost bought my MS3 from the Hattiesburg dealer, but the one in New Orleans was just a little bit hungrier and had more inventory (probably why). I was hoping to get service in Hattiesburg, if needed. But I'd have to pay for it, since by my sig, you can see that I'm clearly out of warranty. LOL. But having lots of fun. New Mazdaspeed CAI goes no tomorrow.

Well we got the discount because he worked there- so I guess that's why we bought ours there.
I have heard that another big dealership here in Hattiesburg is thinking about buying it and re-opening it. My husband is considering going back if the money is right- he loves working on the Mazdas- alot more than Nissan's. I will keep you updated on the dealership re-opening, and what it looks like their service dept. is going to be like...

You're on MRS arent you? I recognize your signature.. lol

Actually yes I visit that site some. Since I'm really close to memphis. On a side note, I ate at Texas De Brazil for the first time this weekend and OMG, words can not explain.

I heard that as well. Also the 2 dealers in memphis are suppose to be closing as well, and the one in Jackson, TN.

Dealer is Tupelo, MS is not far from it, from what I hear.

So Jackson, MS dealer will be the only dealer anywhere close.

But they seem really cool. I brought mine in with all mods and they just were asking about them, in a good way. They said they are cool with it as long as it's not a DIRECT connection with a problem. Example: Cranking up boost causing a blown motor.

That will be cool if it re-opens. I would give them another chance if it does. But my first experience was very bad.

The dealerships in Jackson, TN, Hattiesburg, MS, and one other were all Freeman Moore Mazda- as far as I know the Hattiesburg one is still hanging on but it won't be long before they are gone. I have not hear any updates on who around here is going to buy it and re-open it yet...
