The pennies have been saved the MS3 is mine!
Since all the mazdaspeed vehicles have only lasted 2 years will the mazdaspeed3 go the same route and get killed off in 2009?

probably, there is no 2008 ms6, only 06-07
sop they will probably do the saame fo rthe 3 until the restyle it in a few years and bring it back.

I suppose that means the best time to buy one is right now when you might be able to find a 2007 model and bargain down since the 2008s are out.

You know, I think there just might be an '09. The MS6 was, unfortunately, a real sales dog. Great car, lousy sales. One of my local dealers just advertised that they have 25(!) '07s in stock. And there is a redesign coming out this year. So, no MS6 for '08. But the MS3 appears to be selling reasonably well and I haven't heard much definite about a redesign coming for '09. So, why not pump out another 10k units for sale worldwide in '09 to hold the until the redesign in '09.5-'10? Maybe, just maybe, it'll even be (dare I say it?) . . . AWD.

I guess I can hope. I won't have the money to get one till about this upcoming june so I hope they will have some in stock at that time or else I may be forced to buy an SRT caliber(shrug)

There will be no 2009 Speed3. Sorry. They have always only made speeds for two years each. Just got off the dealer site and saw a 2008 Speed MX-5. Get ready, that will bet the pants of the Speed3. And just FYI, the most any dealership nation wide has in there inventory on the dealer site (not MazdaUsa,.com) is ten. I work at the highest volume Speed Dealership in my area and the longest we have ever had one on the lot is 30 days. So a real sales dog, I won't say that. And the redesign on the 6 will be on the 2009 models, I got 2008's already.

Off to dreamland for me. Oh if they made the Speed 3 AWD in 2009, I'd be kissing goodbye to my Speed 6. That's the only reason why I didn't wait and buy a Speed 3 (Oh yeah, and the Speed 6 gives you more, and I'd have paid just as much for the Speed 3) Once bitten by the AWD bug, there's no going back. COME ON MAZDA, make the Speed 3 AWD for crying out loud. None of this FWD garbage on a car that powerful. ;)

Talk to some of your fellow dealerships elsewhere in the US. The '06 MS6 had to be sold at massive discounts to get them off the lots in states where AWD is only a performance feature and not a safety feature. Definitely a sales dog around here, across the South, and maybe out in CA, too. I could have bought one for less than I paid for my MS3 Sport.

As far as the "2008 Speed MX-5", you've got an exclusive on that 'cause I can't find it anywhere. Maybe there's a secret '08.5 or an '09 or something else in the works that you can fill us in on? Love to hear more about it. If instead you're just talking about the regular '08 MX-5 [yawns wide enough to show back teeth], I'm sure it's a great handling car but with a lbs/hp ratio of 14.7 (compared to the MS3's 12), it ain't going to be kicking anybody's ass in stock form, except on the squiggliest of roads where acceleration doesn't count for much. Drop a turbo in that sucker and then you'd have something to talk about. Oh, yeah, and you'll need to give it more boost than the '05 MSMX-5 had if you want to be a contender.

Update: Just saw this link posted elsewhere: http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/22/mazdaspeed-mx-5-coming-mid-2008-kabura-still-in-the-works/ But as someone pointed out in the thread where it was posted, how the hell you gonna fit the 2.3 MZR turbo engine in the Miata? Definitely want to hear more about it, if there is more, since it would kick some major butt. 2750 lbs, maybe, and 250-ish hp with a factory warranty? Very enticing, or it would be if I didn't need a back seat for the kiddies. Guess I'd have to stick with the MS3 even if the chimerical MSMX-5 can be brought to production. Here's the source of the Autoblog blurb, namely a blurb in Autoweek: http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070821/FREE/70820007&SearchID=73291043440772

He's in Colorado, of course he's going to sell more than usual. It snows a lot there.

So while he may be savvy on his local market, he knows nothing of the MS6's that have been sitting at my local dealerships forever.

I think that the reason that the MS6 didnt sell so well is because it has a price tag on it for 32,000+. For that price I would get a STI. And yes a new body style is coming out and I have heard they made it bigger(uhm). If by chance they ever do a MS3 ever again after 08 and if it does come in AWD expect that car to be atleast $2K-$4K more. But I doubt we will see a MS3 for while. The next Mazda Speed vehicle will be the MX-5(bang)

I never saw an MS6 stickered for more than 30k I don't think. The STI and MS6 are not good comparisons. The MS6 and Legacy GT are.

Most MS6s here were 25k and less with incentives. A STEAL.

the photof the next 6 is from autoweek and it mentions the next gen 3 as well. the next 3 will address nvh issues while still keeping its sporty charachter. lets hope it doesnt go from 07 wrx to the 08 wrx and all feminized. also the powertrains will be carried over, not sure if that includes a spped variant, i guess we will find out in 2009 when the 2010 are due.

The Speed 6 Sport MSRP'ed at about $28500. The GT at a little over $30k, but if you add moonroof navigation, ect ect, it jumps into the 32-33k MSRP. I wanted a Legacy GT, but the car wasn't being sold with the massive incentives like the Speed 6, so I jumped on it. The problem with these massive incentives is it = FAILED MARKET. Hardly anyone wanted to pay even Invoice for this car, and to be honest it's not worth paying even close to MSRP for it. It's a steal though at $23-25k.

However, this type of failure means the incentives you get come back on the depreciation, If most people paid above invoice or higher (example Honda and Toyota), the depreciation wouldn't be as low. However, as long as you keep the car for a long time, you can truly benefit from your deal.

The Legacy GT will retain much more of it's value, so when I made my choice, I said. ARE YOU GONNA KEEP THIS CAR OVER 4 YEARS? The answer was MAYBE, so I took the Speed 6. If the answer was NO, then I'd have been foolish to get the Speed 6, because the $2000 less I paid for it bites me in the rear come trade in time. Simple really, but the fact that the Speed 6 had to be unloaded for such low amounts only proves that as nice as this car is, it wasn't worth anything close to the sticker price to most people, therefore it really failed, but I'm happy it did, because I love this car, especially for $23500. :)

I didn't realize they were that much. It must have been the luck of the draw. All of the MS6s I saw must have been sports. That's alotta dimp!
