Any CAIs use the stock filter?

I'm coming from Acura, if i end up buying the 3, and Comptech makes a CAI that allows you to keep the original air filter and plumbing to the TB by merely replacing the stock airbox with a fenderwell intake system. I'm asking this because I'm pretty sure all the silicates that K&N filters (and similar) let through are why I'm burning oil in my GSR after 85K miles. I'd rather lose a few hp, if that, and stay with paper filters that keep my oil cleaner.

i seriously doubt it was your filter that is making your car burn oil. my focus had a short ram system that was electrical taped togther in some spots. 70k no burnt oil. (no i don't treat my 3 like i did my focus.)

Your filter controls air quality of intake air. A free-flowing filter would, despite claims of being 98-99% as effective as OEM, seem to let in more abrasive particulates. Logic stands that these might cause premature wear. I agree that I don't have enough info at present to say, but rings and valve guide seals are the two main culprits that I can think of. If it is rings then it can only stand to reason that poor filtration allowed in abrasive silicates, which seem to be a documented problem for K&N based on oil analyses of those who use them compared to OEM filters.

Can you point out some of the documents pertaining to the oil analyses. Id like to see those. Thanks.
