any 626 experts here? fuel filter location?

1997 626 4 cyl here.

Not taking off too smoothly, and lagging going up hills.

Thought I'd look at the fuel filter. Where are they on this car? Also, what is the right procedure to relieve the fuel pressure? (pull a pump harness? a fuse? de-pressure the fuel rail?)

Have you checked out mazda626.net? It's a great site for questions. But anyway, the fuel filter is on the right side of the engine bay (looking from the front) and under/behind the air filter box. I just took the whole intake assembly out to facilitate the procedure. You do need to pull the fuse to relieve fuel system pressure (the backside of the fuse box lid has a description of the relays--pull the fuel system one).

Beyond this, invest in a Haynes manual...they're great for this stuff.
