2012 Mazda5 Sport.
Im new here and just picked up an 09 Sport with a manual . I have removed the 3rd row seats and am going to remove the 2nd row of seats as well. Has anyone here done this and if so what did you do to make it look nice. Im coming of a regular cab pickup so I dont need more than 2 seats. I gained alot of space and dropped alot of weight (Im guessing 150+ pounds). Any help appreciated. Im so happy to be back in a car with a stick that handles well.

Congrats on the buy! Welcome, enjoy your stay and as for the second row, not me, I did right away take the third row out, that is where my Woofers will go. I got two kids so we need four seats.

I'm going to use MDF board and create a 'deck' in the back and lay the speaker boxes on that 'floor' ... MDF is solid and works well, covering it with either green vinyl or fabric. I have an idea, (JUST AN IDEA) to go to the junk yard and find a clean car and take the carpet out and use it. (boom07)

With all that spare space, I sure could think of some great things to do...

You must need the space, I would think making the car look good without the seats would be super easy. You might have a couple of holes where the bolts were, but I would imagine its simply take the bolts out and lift.

Damm that is a sweet ride!!
(wow)

Mine is some of the time for work. Its very simple just 4 bolts and lift out. I dont do anything special to cover the floor other than a blanket as its all covered with my sample bags. My 3rd row seat is out 98% of the time for extra space.

I remember seeing pictures of a European Mazda5 (Premacy) cargovan conversion - if I remember right it was a factory option aimed at businesses... but I can't find any pictures of it. It had a nice floor and a metal 'U' shapped wire fence behind the driver's seat to protect the driver from sliding items.

And when I had the third row of seats out a few weeks ago while changing the rear speakers I weighed the third row of seats - I came up with them being about 63 pounds. There is a lot of metal in those seats.

Tell me about it, I had my 3rd row out the day after I got it, had to have the wife help me lift them out, then into the house. (shocked) plus I've taken the baskets out from under the second row, those have a bit to them, and the spare tire, Yonk... out she went, that is what cell phones are for, "Honey, grab that tire, the wrench and meet me at..." :)

Peace!(rei)
