Anti-theft alarm system

While I haven't done a thorough read of the owner's manual with respect to this feature as yet... has anyone experienced seemingly random occurances of the alarm going off?

On a couple of occaisions the alarm in our 3 sport GT has gone off without apparent reason.

I guess if it keeps happening I'll take it in to the dealership for an inspection but it just seems odd.

I think the dealer alarm is set kinda sensative. I live in AZ and every now and then my alarm would go off due to an airplane flying over head. Sometime my alram would go off and I would run out to see what happen, saw someone with their car door open, then after they leave i would go and look all over the side of the car, and nothing! I think it can be set off from someone closing a door also.

the sensor is an assesory for us 6's...mine isn't that sensitive tho(I wish)...if I do the double tap too slow...unlock the doors from inside or put key in door and hold lock down too long it goes off...If it is located the same place as ours it is on the passenger side just in front of center console hidden behind a push pin in carpet. there is a sensitivity knob on it but move it slooooowly till you get the desired sensitvity.

US-spec Mazda3 doesn't have a factory alarm (though some dealers do aftermarket installs).

To answer ham's question, the factory alarm on the Canadian-spec Mazda3 only has door, hood, and trunk sensors (so no shock sensor). It's a very basic system and you're the first I've heard of it going off for no reason. My only guess is that possibly one of the sensors isn't working properly.

Yeah stock is screwy...the shock sensor is required in my case for the alarm to even sound for opening any doors....I can open and slam my trunk close as well? who cmplained to mazda about the alarm going off when they slam the trunk close is an idiot...
#1. Disarm the alarm
#2. Pop the trunk

in that order(hand)
that valet key makes me feel like I have a lexus a lil bit(thumb) I never owned a car with valet key!

I was curious about this, so I decided to 'test' my alarm just today. I couldn't find a way to test the door sensors - when I unlocked with the key (to try to get around the disarming), the alarm will disarm anyways and unlock the car with the power door locks. I tried testing the trunk (as it has no power release function) by unlocking with the key. I was surprised to find the alarm did not sound after unlocking and opening. I found it very odd... Can anyone think of a way to test the system on Canadian-spec models?

Once you turn the key to open the trunk, the alarm will disarm - this is normal, or else the alarm would go off everytime you open the trunk before you unlock the doors (which is a typical occurance when coming from groceries or shopping).

To make the factory alarm go off, do this:
- close trunk/hatch and also close 3 doors (so leave 1 door open)
- use keyfob to lock the doors
- manually unlock the door that is open and then close the door
- once the turn-signals blink to signal doors locked and is alarm activated, then open the door that you manually unlocked. The alarm should now go off

turn car on, roll windos down, turn car off, close doors, and use remote to arm the alarm....then either manualy unlock or power button unlock a door and open it.....

I'll verify Da6's method....did it by accident while detailing one day....startled the bejuzus out of me. Lucky there was a very high ceiling where I was working, or I'd have been doing a Sylvester up there....(I tot I taw a scaredy cat...)

roll down your windows then lock your car then reach in and open it, it will go off. however I suggest an aftermarket alarm if you want a good alarm lol

what is a good anti-theft security system????

I'm going to buy one and have them install it before I pick up the car.

***you gotta excuse me, I know nothin about cars.........***

not shure if mazda will do that...maybe an tech on his off time to get extra cash under mazdas radar...but finding that tech isn't going to be easy. Reason being is that it voids warrenty in most dealerships eyes. Getting a remote start gets almost all dealerships hot and bothered. If they have a remote start kit for the 3 then I advise you get that.

the manager of the dealership said they'd install it for me no problem.

I do know that if you DONT get your remote starter installed by a pro then it will void your warranty.

each dealership is difrent....(doughpoke I guess you got one of the good ones.(2thumbs)
