antenna error - sirius

My sirius just randomly stopped working today. The screen says "antenna error." Any ideas? I checked the wires to the box under the seat. Only possible wire failure is to the HU, but i dont think thats it cause the HU still has the sirius option. Any ideas?

I called sirius and they said to unplug the cable to the HU. Could that actually do anything helpful. They also said there coudl be a kink in the wire, but I dont see how a kink could just appear out of nowhere.

if you unplug it, it resets the sirius box... that should take car of the problem... also, check the wire right where it goes into the antenna, if it got caught or bent it can mess it up.

Is it a single antenna wire or a dual with a splitter? I've seen many a splitter go bad.

check the wire at the base of the antena ... mine came apart a little bit and died ... if there is a break in the wire or the sheilding is cut you should replace it

I have the wire going into the child seat lock thing. Could a bend there break it? Its been like that for a few months.

This happened to me a few months ago. What ended up being the problem was a kinked antenna cable. Unkinked it, and the issue went away. Remember, that the cable is fiber optic for the antenna. If you kink it, the light can't travel from the antenna to the unit. If you cut it, you will be buying a new antenna. Check for kinking of the cable.

There was a cut in the wire right where the wire leaves the fat part of the wire on the antenna. I'm working on getting the warranty to cover it but not having much luck. American Satellite said call kenwood, and kenwood said that american satellite isn't an authorized dealer so its not under warranty.

Kenwood called back and said that American Satellite is actually an authorized vender. I dont know if the guy at kenwood looked into it and realized he was wrong, or American satellite called them up and asked them what was up. I'm guessing the latter cause the guy at American satellite thought it was weird that kenwood told me that and told me he'd call me back. Tomrorow the antenna ships off the CA. I'm hoping to get it back in less than 3 weeks, but even that might be a little optimistic.
