Another wrecked MSP

Howdy. I mostly lurk here, but I figured everyone would like to check this out.

I was making a left turn, Ford Probe runs a red light, hit the car making a left turn in front of me out of the way, and I had a head on with him. Luckily he locked his brakes up, and was slowed down a good amount before he hit me. I was going about 5mph. The impact wasn't hard enough to set off the airbags, or didn't hit in the right place to set off the airbags, but messed up the car good.

Then Ford Probe guy takes off. Thankfully another car followed him and the cops caught him... turned out he was drunk. I just hope he had insurance, I'm still waiting for my copy of the police report.

Nobody was hurt thankfully. I don't know what the dumbass was thinking, running away during rush hour with 800 witnesses. I think the car is fixable, although the frame is definitely off somewhere, as the driver's door is rubbing when I open it. The fenders are still good. All the damage was on the front end and the hood.

The radiator was punctured, probably got pushed back into the turbo. Not sure how bad it is, the hood is so crumpled we couldn't get it open.

Sorry to hear it man, I just got my MSP, and I would cry if this happened to me.

I hope that guy has insurance too. His police charges area already going to be fairy tough... hit and run, drunk driving, etc.

You got lucky, at lease they caught the guy. Last time I got hit and run by a truck, my car( 1996 civic HB) was total and he got away.

Well the good news is, if you need some spare parts, the probe has basically the same engine and tranny, right. haha.

I didn't think they would catch him. I remarked to an officer about how it sucked he got away, and he turns to me and says "I just heard on the radio that they caught him."

Apparently a guy he had cut off earlier was really pissed at him, and followed him with a dispatcher on the phone until a cop caught up to where they were.

Hey, it may take us a while, but we'll get 90% of em. Drunk drivers are the lowest piece of crap. They mess up cars, lives and property. It amazes me how they got off pretty easy sometimes though. I'm glad you're ok though and the car CAN be fixed. My car looked like that when I got hit by someone who ran a red light. And by running the red light, I mean that mine had already been green for a few seconds before I even pulled out into the intersection. And after that, she asked if she could use my cell phone??!!! I said "umm nooooooooo, you just wrecked my car! Durgh". I hate stupid people. Life should be like that movie Gattaca. But instead of invetro for birth defect prediction, you can predict stupid people. Well, I guess stupid could be classified as a defect tho.....

I'm not sure. Since he was apprehended somewhere else and taken to jail, I didn't get to find out if he did or not. I'm going to the PD to get a copy of the police report tonight.. so we'll see.

I hope he got locked up with a "friendly" cell mate to keep him company, heh.
