Another Speeding Ticket

I was driving to work this morning in Aliso Viejo. Some lady kept tail gating me, so when I turned onto aliso viejo pkwy, i took off, but as soon as i did that, a cop was driving down in the opposite direction. now i was just getting into third gear so i didnt think i was thaat much over the limit (45mph), but he flipped around and told me he got me on LIDAR at 61mph. My question is whether or not that is accurate because he was moving in the opposite direction? When i asked him how he clocked me, he said he didnt have time to sit there and explain it to me, and if i wanted an explanation, to take it to court.(ass). then he gave me my ticket and left.

Most new radar and laser guns can work when the police car is moving. Basically, they are connected to the speedometer of the police car (which is calibrated so it is accurate), and the radar/laser gun subtracts the police car's current speed from the reading.

Uhh you know you can ask them to see the radar and they have to show you. Also, you can get the information on the gun that was used and look up it's service records. That is all information they have to provide on the spot apon request. Since you are on the computer now it's too late. Good information for next time.

Radar can be used while stationary or moving but LIDAR has to be not moving. Lidar is not connected to the car unless it plugged in to get power or charging if the batteries are dead.

beachbum12tree....That cop hit you with radar...either Instant On or Constant On but with radar again but not with laser. Laser can be used and will not work correctly while moving.

If on your ticket it says lidar and he was moving towards you, take it to court, you can beat this ticket. Lidar = laser which has to be stationary. check out Radardetector.net and look halfway down their main forum page to the how to beat your ticket forum, they can help you with this. Just make sure to not give too much information as cops do look through there as well.

And if it's a mixed system, Laser/Radar, then he got you dead nuts.
