another one bites the dust!!!

Well I purchased the stage 2 kit from the racingmazda website the guys there are really cool. My engine should be here next week. Im also going to change the clutch since Ill already have the engine out. And this time Ill also be running the unichip or another type of fuel management. Does anyone have any other suggestions of something I should go ahead and install?

Well here's the thing with running the FCD all the time. It will alter the fuel and timing maps. Anything that alters the MAF signal will also alter the fuel and timing maps. It doesn't matter if you are boosting or not it will alter the maps. It's been recommended that you hook up a switch to the FCD so you can turn it off when not boosting over fuel cut. I've personally experienced detonation when using pump gas. I only use my FCD at the track when I want to overboost and I also use race gas. Joe P helped me in diagnosing my pinging and detonation problem and this is what he recommended.

This is exactly why I haven't got a FCD yet. My cars runs great up to 15PSI on 93 octane without fuel cut from the Spring until the winter donw here in Texas.
I know that the FCD can tilt fate against your motor...
I have over 49,000 miles now most of it at 12PSI-13PSI and it has proven quite realiable. I would like a FCD but the cost of a blown motor would be too high for me right now. s*** I just spent 3700.00$ cash on bedroom furniture, 2000.00 cash on a DOWN PAYMENT for my oldest daughters braces, 1100.00$ cash for a mattress set, and man I don't even want to think of what I will have to pay for before our house is done in Dec. Blinds, drapes, rugs, more furniture damn it's a lot.
Oh yeah 6200.00$ and 1680.00$ of credit card debt to pay off next month and some other crap so a blown motor would suck. But at least I will be out of debt except my house and car payment.

I wonder if he had a defect like Jecky did. Mazda had to replace his motor due to a casting flaw.

mellinia never came with an FS-DE you may be refering to the 626 the melinia has a 2.5 v6 and a 2.3 supercharged v6 not a 4cyl

Let us know how that turns out. You may be one of the first on the board to go with Racingmazda for that type of upgrade. I havent gotten a chance to talk to Ric Stephens about these kits yet.

I understand about the money thing my wife is about to kill me, She has a 2001 chevy cav. Its paid off but we were going to put a large down payment on either a cooper s or a s2000. "those are the cars she likes" so now Im putting alot of money into this makes it kind of crazy when I tell her that Im adding to the list of stuff Im going to get. But shes also getting tired of waking up at 4 am to take me to work!!! HAHAHA

I need some suggestions on how to tag all the vacume lines so when I drop the new engine in it will be as simple as possible. any ideas?

s*** your all over it. Really I never even thought of that. I was going to use masking tape or hell I dont know what I was going to use. Ill pick some up tomm. Thanks

zip ties are a good idea. When we'd do engine stuff at the shop I used to work at, we'd label it with tape and write "1A, 2B" etc, using letters and numbers at the same time just incase anything got smeared off.

Quick question off topic, can the unichip be tuned for higher than 9.5-10 psi? Im really thinking about this because I like the idea of a plug and play management system. As far as I know thats the only one available. It would be a real waste if Im only running 10 psi with the forged internals. I want to run around 12-15 psi any ideas? Keep in mind I know nothing about tunning anything. And I dont have a laptop handy.
