Well I was driving to Memphis last night. And I fill up at the only conveint gas station in a small ass town. ANd continue on my way well about a 15 miles down the road Im start coming to a red light(mind you its a 45 mph zone) well a slow down to about 15 mph and and go into second gear. Well the light turns green and I give it about 1/4 throttle (boost controller off) and BOOM!!!! smoke and oil goes everywhere. Call road side asst. Cause Im in bum Fu@% at 730 pm. They say it will be about hour- to 1.5 hrs. Well to make this kind of short they got there at 1230 in the fu#@ing morning. So me and a friend are going to look at the damage this afternoon once the car gets back up here. Sorry this is so long, JUST VENTING!!!!!!!! Forged internals here I come! But it might take a few weeks so I would like some options from everyone here And est price cause I figured aroung 2500.(shrug)

so you are figureing $2500 for just forged internals?

typical forged internals are like $1200-$1400 ( depending on brand )
add another $100 for some re-usable ARP head studs
another $65 for some nice toga rod bearings
$ for fluids
$ for gaskets

unless you actually did some block damage then there shouldn't be too much more

boost controller was off so around 4-5 psi. Thats the crappy thing I wouldnt be as upset if I went out in style haha. I went like a b****!!!

Well if there was smoke and oil everywhere, there had to be something wrong with the block.... like a hole.... ?

But you weren't going too fast.... hmm.

damn.... I waved to you earlier yesterday when I drove by.... and now your engine is blown.... damn... and the worst part is being out in the middle of nowhere

Yep, I have 30,000 miles, wasnt going fast at all, and yep in the middle of nowhere. Hey Adam I got that intake if youre still interested. Its not all blown up. I only run 8-8.5 daily and Ive ran 10 psi maybe 5 or 6 times. Im not what you call "hard on my car at all" If any one wants to help me look for a block in this area that would be huge....cough cough Adam..hint hint. Im have my friend with a trailor pick it up from mazda tomm. Ill see about having it in his garage until I have everything to rebuild. what if the differance in the fsde and the other motor how can I tell them apart and which do I neeed.

you only need an FSDE. find a low mileage one and switch the msp's lines etc over onto it.

yes Does that make a differance at such low boost levels? So what is a fsde motor? And can I get a few sites that sells the rods,pistons and ring set along with a gasket set? Thanks for all the help. I hope to have the car running again in afew weeks.

maybe it had something to do with the jdm cams? Were they installed, and for how long?

I have had them installed for almost 6 months. And mazda relpaced the timing belt about three weeks ago, becasue it was rubbing on the timing covers (which was all covered) As for milage with the cams about 15,000 miles I really dont think it was the cams. But any advise is appricated. Thanks

Well here's the thing with running the FCD all the time. It will alter the fuel and timing maps. Anything that alters the MAF signal will also alter the fuel and timing maps. It doesn't matter if you are boosting or not it will alter the maps. It's been recommended that you hook up a switch to the FCD so you can turn it off when not boosting over fuel cut. I've personally experienced detonation when using pump gas. I only use my FCD at the track when I want to overboost and I also use race gas. Joe P helped me in diagnosing my pinging and detonation problem and this is what he recommended.

the FSDE is the motor in all 02+ 3rd gen Proteges, including your MSP. it also came in probes, mx6's and mellinias(sp? lol). Linuxracer suggests the 00+ mellenia motors if you find one from a mellenia.

Beau @ MAMotorsports- internals
Ken @ ProtegeGarage- Mazda gaskets and internals
Juan @ Hiboost- internals
Nick @ Modern Performance, Inc- internals
Chris @ SPD Racing- internals, probably

Those are all approved vendors that support this place. Send business their way first!

What's the difference with the Millenia engine?

Well Im going to need a new block, man thats crazy! I have a pretty good size whole right behide the turbo!!! seems as if this is going to be a pain in the arse after all. If I go with the hiboost internal kit(I think it comes with rods,pistons,rings,head gasket.Other that the apr head stud set and block what else would I need? Thanks again for the help. Ill try to post some pics soon.

Ive look at the racingmazda.com engine rebuilds. Is the stage 2 complete? What else is needed to install this? It looks like a pretty good deal but has anyone used this website before?
