Another Newbie, New MP5 with MP3 mods!

Hey all, I've been hovering around this board for awhile now. I was going to get a Mazdaspeed but they took too long so I bought this completly trick MP5 with all of the MP3 mods. This car was a custom job done by Showcase Mazda here in steamy Phoenix, AZ. I have posted some pictures of my former Prelude and my new MP5. I only have one right now but there will be a lot more to come. And yes there is NO body roll in this car, it is sweet. Not to mention the Mazdaspeed exhaust and AEM intake. Protege01MP3, you have a bad az car. I want to boost my car so any tips you can offer would be great. Anyway, the way I look at it I'm driving an MP3 with a hatchback, minus the awesome stereo and 10HP. But hey when it comes to cars everything is fixable, especially HP.

Remove the roof rack

Wazzup GXL. Props to the black MP5. Is there an easy way to take to roof rack off? I just bought the car last Friday.

yah.. from what i've heard it really isnt that hard to get the roof rack off...

go for a search in the forums and just type roof rack im sure you'll find something..

and people were saying that they had to leave the "tracks" or "spacers" or whatever that the rack is actually sitting on, on the car... because it didnt look right with it taken off...

but then again, you do have a black car, so it probably wouldn't be noticed

so.. other than the wheels what all mods from the mp3 did you get?? all the suspension stuff? sway bars? strut bar? springs? shocks? c'mon man.. give us the info

I have the strut bar (of course)
I have the MP3 struts, MP3 sway bars, MP3 springs, MP3 shocks. Basically I have the whole MP3 suspension tucked away in my Protege5 and it drives like an MP3 as far as handling. I have the aluminum pedals from the MP3, along with the racing hart rims. Which reminds me that my rear sway/stabilizer bar is the same bright red as my strut tower bar in the front only the sway has "Racing Hart" on it in big white letters. It's an MP5 with ten less base HP and the regular 6-disc changer (no kenwood in here, man that would be nice). I have all of the suspension from the MP3. I'll have to take some pictures of it so that you can see some of it. The customer leather interior is really nice, embroidered and everything. It also came with the AEM intake and Mazdaspeed exhaust system. I gotta get those pics taken so I can post em.

removing the roof rack is easy as balls, it's just unscrewing 4 screws, taking off two bolts, and it comes off, then you just put the black inserts in.

How much did the dealership **** you for that car? Usually a dealership around here will add a intake and charge around $900(no joke)! So hope you didn't pay too much.

Redwagon02, the nice part is that I have a buddy at the Mazda dealer who hooked me up with a killer deal. The base price was $17,790.00 (USD). They added the MP3 17" rims and Falken tires ($1,995.00), window tint ($299.00), Mazdaspeed Exhaust and AEM Intake ($895.00), Mazdaspeed Aluminum Racing Pedals ($195.00), custom leather interior ($1,995.00). The included the MP3 suspension in the price of the car when they sold it to me. All of these prices are off of the window stickers that I still have, these are dealer prices. The window sticker price with all that was $23,169.00. Now with the car on the lot for 3-4 months, and I was buying 2 MP5's at the same time, they knocked the price of the cars down. I ended up getting it for about 20k. I had a lot of negative equity in the car I traded in (5-6k neg). They took the 2k I put down and the 2.5k rebate and used that to cancel out the negative. Besides I bought them at the end of the month, 11-29-02, they needed numbers.

hey md420, what are these black inserts and where would I aquire some of them, or do I already have them and not know about it?

Your strut bar probably says "Racing Beat" since Racing hart makes rims and not the strut bars on our cars. And the strutbars are probably the strutbars for the P5 made by racing beat. To have the MP3's, you need special end links welded on I believe. I know they are definetely different though. What turbo kit are you looking at getting?
