Ive thought about getting a winshield sticker that says MazdaLemon. Maybe if i take it to the dealer like that...they will listen up. lol

What amazes me is that with all these posts about blown modded motors and problems with the dealers that people STILL keep trying to crank more power out of a motor that obviously was not made for it. Be happy with what you bought, folks. It's a good car right from the factory. If you wanted more power, why in the hell did you buy it in the first place? I mean, I knew it was 170hp before I even saw one in person. I drove it, was satisfied with it's performance, so I bought it. No mods, and guess what? No problems.
congrats on making the most ignorant statement to date on these forums.

my car is more reliable with mods then those crappy parts that mazda puts in. Plastic pipes blowing themselves off at stock boost, sub that keeps dying, turbo that failed, brakes that warped driving off of the lot, exhaust that fell off, the clunk, shifter that squeaks, etc etc etc... None of my aftermarket parts failed yet.

ok, ill admit i have been somewhat negative in my statements thus far. I DO hope you the best in your endeavors to get your car fixed. I honestly would be happy for you. I am just trying to prep you for the worst. I have been through it and not many else have. I think my advice is worth a lot more than anyone else who posted in this thread (with the exception of forcefed).

Isnt it better to speak with someone that has already gone through the same problem as you are going through now? I am sorry if i have filled my posts with negative sentiments, but maybe im just sour that i had to take out a loan to fix my car. I am much more happy now however in light of the fact that i will have a much more reliable motor now.

And once again, why am i a numbnuts? Because i was telling him the potential outcome of his ordeal? or was it the fact that i highlighted the fact that he modded his car?

Mazda will try to void your warranty for using an off brand oil filter. Be prepared to answer questions about that intercooler and intake, thats all im saying. Even if it didnt increase power that much, the vehicle was still modified and they will do everything in their power to not cover your engine.

Im just trying to prepare you that is all.

Good for you azian6er, it takes balls to even admit that you were wrong/mistaken. I agree with you though, car dealerships will try to screw you for the sheer fact that they exist to make money. A 4K motor for free is definitely NOT making them any money, and they will try to get out of it any way possible. I however do think that this kid has got a good case on his hands, and I think that for once the Consumer Bill of Rights will prevail.

By the way, my IQ is ::sing-songy:: schvifty-five, shiggity shiggity schvifty-five! Group X rocks my socks.

ah linux you know i'll be around for a while. we'll just have to see how the pocket book looks ;)

you know why! you jumped all the guys case and flamed the crap out of him. fmic is not "heavily modded" it's one of the best things for this car. it is increasing the life of the motor and the turbo. now tell me why he should own up and take responsibility for getting caught?! he has a legit case and could very easily win depending on how he plays his cards.

please dont refer to "easily win" and mazda corporate together.

Have you been through the process?

I have. Believe me there is nothing "easy" about getting a brand new motor warranteed.

Maybe this is a misstatement, but I'm 99% certain that the dealerships are still paid for service work, even if it's under warranty. It's Mazda who has to pay the dealers.

Anyone else know for sure? I'd be interested in knowing more about this.

(Sorry for the threadjack)

Yes, they still get paid from mazda, but how long do you think they would be selling Mazda's cars if they replaced every motor that they came across and didn't ask questions? Not very long....

Mazda pays the STEALERSHIPS for Warranty work, but it about half the rate of what they would get paid for raking a customer over the money coals for the same work. Therefore, the STEALERSHIPS would love to say that you voided the warranty, and charge you double what they would get from bad Mazda.

If they do decide to void it, make SURE YOU GET IT IN WRITING WHY THEY ARE VOIDING YOUR WARRANTY. Its your right to ask for that, ahd thier responsability to provide it to you. :D

I was saying this whole situation is a joke... I agree with taking action..

Its amazing how a limited production car has so many damn problems

I used to feel the same way, then I thought about something:

No matter how hastily they went about the MSP project and how upset I get that there are some nagging issues with the car, I'm looking at the big picture now... At least they MADE the car. And I'm glad they did. This project could have easily been shot down by the bean-counters, but someone at Mazda knew that this was their last chance to show just how capable the Protege platform was. I'm eternally grateful to them for that much.

As for the rod bearing possibility, it's still possible even if you don't hear it at idle or at lower rpm's. I've had rod bearings on other cars make a racket only when the engine was warmed up, and only under load or under acceleration. The upper half might be pounded thin and the bearing might not have even spun yet. Of course, I'm about to wonder if you couldn't have a cracked piston or ring land as well. Hard to say until they tear it down.

Oh, and it sure as hell wasn't the FMIC that caused it. That much I'm sure of. Good luck. If you really don't have any mods that up the boost or alter the timing/fuel curves, then I think you might be o.k.

Just find a nice, stout tree and hit it at about 80mph. Problem sokved.

Don't you dare! I know this wasn't intended to be serious, but let's not encourage reducing the number of an already limited production run! :P

Keep unloading them and drive the resale down, lol. And soon enough I'll be buying them up for extras.

I just find it funny how last time the dealer in WV told me that i had the boost turned up too high on my BOV.... (rlaugh)

I have SRI,FMIC,and BOV....nothing that is gonna change any of that drastically. My car ran fine until the PCM went bad and flooded my engine. Now i have problems from that exact same side. i know that they are going to try to void the work off that get go but i feel i have a case.

And Azian....its all cool. Trust me, I am prepared for the worst. Im just not going to bend over and accept it. Ive called corporate already and have begun talks. Its to early to tell, seeing as how i havent even taken my car to the dealer yet.

Diggler, i think they were taking the right approach with the MSP, but they really settled short of what could be done and that is a disappointment. i have had nothing but problems with this car. Some common amongst all ours and some individual. Im seeing if Mazda is going to live up to the contract and if not then i will take the necessary actions; whatever they may be.

damn man, no luck on this car for you! let me know if you need anything, I'll try and help ya out.
