Sooooooooo Im a bit hesitant into taking my car to the car wash with my CAI installed.... im afraid of the spray jets that shoot up from the ground..

should i be worried?

is this a retarded question?

This is a legitimate concern depending on the car wash. A lot of car washes spray the crap out of your wheels and undercarriage with reckless abandon.

You should be washing your car yourself anyway.

Why waste the time to post? If you are worried about it turn the car off, as long as you are in neutral who cares... You will get a bigger argument here that you take your speed through car washes like that and not do it yourself.

(hand) I take it you havent been to to many auto car washes lately have you.... You have to drive over a row of jets to get into most of them.

qft

During the winter I usually will run through the brushless carwashes and even with the SRI, I do my best to coast through the undercarriage jets.

In my old p5 with the Simota CAI. I have gone through several of those touchless car washes without a problem however I had the factory wheel liner slash gaurd thing installed. I also idled through the car wash but then again thats much easier to do in a auto. lol

meh I go through touchless car washes a least every couple weeks, Injen CAI, never an issue. I don't think theres a reason to be paranoid

I've had several cars with a cai and never had a problem plus there is the plastic undercarriage to block it somewhat. And I only used brushless carwashes!

If I understand correctly, that plate covers the engine bay almost completely, including the area where the CAI sits, so you shouldn't have an issue?

I used to have a car with a custom cai that nearly dragged on the ground, i remember bookin it through the rain with that thing.

But then my cai on my 350z got hydrolock from water. So maybe I was just lucky with the other car. I still say you're fine, the plastic undercarraige should protect it well enough.

If you are seriously that afraid of water getting past the filter, turn your engine off and leave it in neutral. At least with the engine off there will be no air moving through the filter. Those jets in the car washes barely have enough pressure to clean the grime off your wheels, let alone be able to supply steady enough stream of water that would effectively hydrolock your motor. Your being too paranoid, lay off the hash.

better to be paranoid then one of the tools that go puddle jumping and lock up their motor. (bang) I don't see this guy being one of those tools.

Agreed only to a certain degree.

CAI's take certain skill and luck to hydrolock. We arn't lucky enough to have car washes that will powerwash the living s*** out of the underbodies. Best to wash it yourself and spray underneath as best as you can.

Ive taken mine to a few washes and never an issue. Only problem is those damn guys stalling my car. One stalled it about 5 times and I eventually walked over there and drove it for him.
