Am I The Only One That Thinks The P5 Is Kinda Quick?

why not just get a 2007 wrx?
I dunno about the 07 but i won't get the 06 wrx because I put out more whp than one right now. I love the styling of my tib over the wrx even though WRX is really nice.

btw, they under rated the wrx. add two more spinning wheels and your whp would drop even more so.

awd is priceless.

there is some corner pulls i did going pretty deep in the pedal in the wet and the car just pulled like a gorilla.

if all you want is hp, nevermind then.

I will never understand the attitude of some (many? most?) people on this forum. One would assume they're on here 'cause they like thier car, yet they consistantly b**** that they're "slow".

The Protege was Mazda's "economy" class car. Many people on here seem to be comparing them to Evo's and STI's. Those are much more expensive, performance-focused factory tuner cars! Of course the Protege feels slow by comparison! For the price of a Protege, Mitsubishi and Subaru dealers offer much lesser cars that are much more on par with the Protege.

As econo-boxes go, the Protege is pretty quick. Not drag strip-burning muscle car quick, but quick enough to be fun, and certainly quick enough to get on the highway. (If you're having trouble having fun or getting on the highway, read my up coming book, "Driving Above 3000 RPM For Dumb Asses")

I think the Protege is kinda quick. We all seem to agree that it handles quite well. The P5's especially were really well equipped for the price Mazda asked. As a trade-off for not have twin-turbo, 8.5 liter, 900BHP V-10 engines, they get pretty good gas mileage. They're good cars. If you people want really fast cars, pay really fast car money, or STFU. If you want an inexpensive car that handles way better than it has any right to, and gets along pretty well for a 2.0 liter 4-banger, this is the car for you. All others need not apply.

nobody here said they dont like their car. nobody even seems bothered by the fact they are slow. i take it most of us test drove the p5 before we bought it, we're just explaining the reasons we bought a slow car, i.e. economy, looks, versatility, handling. no ones here to bash on the p5.

Easy there killer. I see no P5 bashing going on here. I love my slowtege5. Even if I go get toasted by modded Yarii.

We're just poking fun at ourselves. It's all in good humor

Alturred, I mean no offense by this, but not one person on here mentioned their great gas mileage in this thread when they called the P5 "slow". You yourself said
its not, ive gone through a v6 mx3, a v6 lumina, and a v6 ranger. they arent that quick, but a helluva lot quicker than the mp5, which ive owned 2 of.
Those are all V6's. The Pro is a 4. To say "I've had these V6 cars, the P5 is slow," is kind of like me saying "I've got an MPV, the head room in the P5 sucks". You're comparing apples and breasts, they're just not even in the same league. I'm just saying that for what it is, the P5 is a lot more fun than it has any right to be. If you get it up in the Revs, it feels pretty quick. It's kinda quick for an economy car. I just don't get the people that call it "slow". "Slow" in what context? It's faster than a bicycle, it's faster than a cow with a broken leg, it's slower than and Evo and it's slower than the earth, hurtling through space, so what? It's all about perspective. From my perspective behind the wheel at 6000 RPM in third gear passing someone, the car feels quick. That's all I'm saying.

edit: and I'm just poking fun back, Donas! :D

Thats a long, lean, low musclewagon. Why would anyone ever buy an SUV or a minivan when they could have one of these?

I would definetly rock that or the Audi...If only the magnum was availible in a manual tranny.

Once the challenger comese out I'm sure someone will swap the manual tranny into a charger, magnum, or 300c as quickly as it can be done. .. same platform and all, it'll most likely work easily.

there's something wrong with your car.. seriously. the xB runs an 18.7 quarter mile stock.

Not necesarilly. The xB (even the auto version) is over 200 Ibs lighter than the P5 and gearing might have something to do with it too, but I'm not sure. I would not be surprised if an xB ran reck and neck with a P5
