Hey everyone.

So my alt is junk. It was over charging and then undercharging and almost stalling my car at stoplights at night.. I changed it out with a reman from carquest and its not as bad as it was (12-17 volts) but still there.. Can anyone give me the Mazda part number from when they brought there car in to Mazda to get it fixed.. I can order one from them at work but i want to make sure i get the one that will fix it.. They have a reman for 200 and a new for alot..

Thanks

I'm confused. You want to order a reman alternator from Mazda but want the part number first? I know the Mazda dealership I order my parts from always asks for my VIN first to make sure they're ordering the correct part. I'm sure the part number is in the stickied online manual in this forum, just gotta look it up.

I've had 3 bad alternators from Advanced Autoparts for my Civic before they finally got me a good one. I've heard this is common too. Reman'ed alternators seem to be either hit or miss from places like AutoZone, Advanced, Napa etc. I wonder if you just got another bad alternator?

But you're right, I would go with the reman'ed alternator from Mazda, though expensive, I bet it would work the first try.

Well if i could get away with the reman from mazda id like to get that.. But i was just trying too see what part number people got when they got there car fixed at mazda. As im sure you know i dont wanna keep doing this and just want to get it over with.

Mazda parts group did ask for my VIN. And they had two listings.. All they told me was the price difference.. Im just assuming that the lesser of the two was a reman..

Thanks for the replay..(yippy)

I had the same issue, I replaced my alt 3 times. the first time I replaced it the car ran a little better, but it was still almost stalling out and the lights would dim when the fan kicked in. After that I thought they were all faulty alt but Mazda obviously didn't put a big enough stalk alt in these cars. turns out it was the EGR and IAC valves that were causing the majority of my issues. You can get reman alt from Mazda (in Canada, I don't know about the states shouldn't be any different) they don't need your vin. They will ask year, make, model, 1.6/2L that's all they'll need (if your car is stalk)
