alright - here goes. KL-P5-take2

Oh I was meaning the metal pipe to metal pipe, not pipe to hose. There is a tool my dealer has where we can cut the rear section of the A/C system of and reconnect a new section rather then remove the complete system that otherwise is in good working order. I would think the same could be done here to allow the 626 end to be attached to the P5 pipe.

Silverfox, you're onto something I do believe. So if I understand this right - just have them cut off the old aluminum ends (P5) that are too large I.D. - and have them attach (weld/solder/join....somehow) the PGT/MX6/626 ends on? That seems about the easiest. I have a heliarc at my disposal, and the machine is magnificent...it can cold weld with the power turned up to a whopping "0".

Yes that is what I am talking about, if you are able to weld thats great and may be the best option for you as it is all there infront of you. I am trying to get the info on the tool we use at work (I am not there atm)

I'd really appreciate the info fox - that's one thing that is pretty great about this board. The information trading is pretty good!

I'm going to exhaust my sources for a/c compressors and a/c lines then ill see if anyone can do that, I didn't think you could weld aluminum I thought all you could do was bond it which is incredibly weak

you can heliarc aluminum - which is plenty strong for what we're doing here. My only issue would be whether the material (piping) would be thick enough to make a join.

its about 1/8 of an inch think at best

those dont work what compressor do you have?

There must be something in the kool-aid that y'all are drinking... (drunk)(thumb)

Heh...that's what I was thinking when the OP was telling us how fast his 168hp car felt. Haha! Glad you're enjoying it though! ;) I'm sure it's got to be quicker than stock! Any time I accidentally push the gas down too hard, I'm quickly reminded how gutless this 2.0L is, and I get out of the throttle so as not to further disappoint myself. Haha! :)

yeah - the 2.0's that I've put in this car have all felt like they were made out of forged marshmallow, and had no pull whatsoever. Well....that is unless I kept the revs so high (in an auto....) that it sounded like it was going to spontaneously combust at any moment's notice.....

When I bought my P5, I got it because I've always loved these little cars. They're roomy, sporty, good lookin, and being that they were mazdas - they handled decently from the factory. They weren't the bruteforce Mazdaspeed Protege'-type power, but what they lack in power I feel they more than made up for in style.

My kiddos love the car. When we make any sort of trips - they aren't cramped. They got plenty of room to lay down in the backseat, or climb into the cargo trunk and chill. Now that it actually has some umph.....they REALLY like it when daddy steps on the loud pedal. My daughter, lol...... "Go fast Daddy!!! WOOOHOOO!!" .. so I do. Take a sharp corner - and hear her giggling something fierce - turn around to see her face and her carseat is leaning over at a 45* angle and she's just dying of laughter.

I don't know about ya'll - but that seems like a solid payoff for the amount of work I've put into the P5 thus far.

mine just needs a turbo now and ill be happy, 8 psi is all I want for now

but I'm impressed with the power, I went from well over 200 horsies on my 2.0 to 160 at least. I think it does well, but I hate not having the power build up like a turbo
but I'm still very happy with the swap. and once I fix this clunk and exhaust/EGR leak ill be 10x happier

LOL That is very good stuff there, but you may want to pay some attention to that child seat if it is tilting just from a corner you will want to better secure it in the car :). I am very impressed with all these build threads for these cars and all the love you all are putting into the MP5. I have very much the same feelings for my car and why I got it as you have listed, I just feel I made a small mistake in buying an auto, so I am currently looking into my options on that.
