For example choose 3 or 4 subs you have heard about that work well with 300watts. Next, buy the amp you are going to power them with and install it. Finally, go to different shops and have them throw in a prefab box in your trunk/hatch and listen. If you're prepared you can do a quick hot-swap and find out which one sounds good with your music in your car. If they won't do this for you...its their own loss, go somewhere else. You can't be 'sold' on car audio equipment by listening to it in a sound room.

That's some of the best advice I've heard in a long time.
Any shop that wants your business will do some quick-swaps on subs in a pre-fab box to let you decide. As long as you are prepared (meaning, amp hooked up, and speaker wires ready to just be popped into terminal cups), they should have no problem doing this for you.

It's a 10" dual 4 ohm voice coil SWR-1041D (wired in parallel for a 2 ohm load.) Mounted in a Q-logic .65 box (Crutchfield.) Basically brand spank'n new (has been sitting on my kitchen counter for over a month now!) If interested, email me jmackenz@insight.rr.com
It needs a solid 300wrms amp to really shine (I'm using a JL 300/2 for my sub amp.)
I would consider it man, but 1st MP3 has sold me on getting JL. You're comment on parting with yours tells me I'm making a good decision
