Hey everyone, just thought I'd post on here and introduce myself. I'm the proud new owner of an '02 P5 with 54k on it, courtesy of another forum member.

5 speed with Mazdaspeed short shifter, white over black. Spent a day cleaning it, now I'm working on getting the dents taken care of and it should be great.
I am in exile from German cars, previously owning (in order of appearance), BMW 540 6 speed, Porsche 944 Turbo, Audi A4, and a Porsche 911. Unfortunately, I finally came to the hard decision that my BMW, and German cars in general, simply were too much upkeep for a engineering student with a wife and son. So out went the 300 HP BMW, and in came the MP5, with it's thundering 130 HP of fury.
Overall though, it's a great little car. Sure it could use more power, but it's good looking inside and out, handles great, and has a shifter and pedal placement to die for. Heel toe downshifts have never been so much fun. 30 MPG and cheap parts are a big plus too. I'm doing the maintenance thing, old habits die hard, and German cars are much better to fix before they break. This weekend it got new NGK plugs, coolant flush, and an EGR clean, next week will be Royal Purple in the tranny and Mobil 1 in the engine. It will stay pretty stock, at some point I'll probably get some Kartboy shift bushings, a window tint, and maybe a Racing Beat cat-back and upgraded rear sway bar. Spent plenty of time lurking on here pre and post sale, look forward to shooting the sh!t with you all.
