Hey guys I need to replace the tires on my 06 6s and I'm having a hard time deciding what to do. I'd rather not get snow tires and make it all year round with one set. What are you snow climate drivers using for an all season tire in a 18". I found some Goodyear Eagle GT that look interesting, anyone have experience with them?

Thanks

I just replaced my stockers which had the GT's with a set of F1's
After the 50$ rebate they were only a few dollars per tire more than the GT's.

Took them out in some of the slush the other day and they were really grippy.
The F1's do not have a mileage warranty though. I liked the gt's but they seemed to be a little noisy for the lack of agressive treads.

i just got a set of four goodyear eagles putting them on monday morning..ill let u know how i like them by thursday

I'm running the Kuhmo Ecsta ASX model and with a low price, they have performed very well in dry/wet/light snow/slush and ice. They also have a 30K treadwear warranty. I'd highly suggest taking a look.

I was thinking about these as well. They are decently priced and seem like they'd hold up well in snow.

I like the GT's cuz I think the pattern is good, I think it'll perform well in snow - That's really my main concern at this point since we got 100+ inches last season. I just really don't want to cough up the $$ for a set of wheelies with Blizzaks on them.

I never had f1's on my MS6, but i did on my MSP. Loved them, great looking tire too. Never tried them in snow as I traded for MS6 before it happened.

Holy crap, this takes me back! Last time I ran all-seasons thru a winter (a New England winter, mind you!), they were michelin MX4 rain tires if my memory serves me, on my '94 V6 Grand Am. They were able to climb snowy VT back roads with hardly an issue. However since then, I've had snows on my Lincoln Mark VIII (280 hp V8 + RWD + open diff = NO CHOICE!), Cooper and later BFG all-terrains on my Explorer which were excellent, and LM-22 Blizzaks on the MS6 which kicked the snow's ASS and weren't too loud on dry pavement for a snow tire....

But, uh....yeah Michelins aren't a bad way to go either, IMO.

After some research I went with the Pirelli PZero Nero tires. They have dry handling 98% of the stockers and are suppose to work well in the winter. I am very happy with them.

I just installed a set of the Pirelli Pzero's as well. Like them so far. I had a set on my WRX and they were great tires in all conditions. 2 of my friends also had sets of them Evo & RSX, all of us had no issues and everyone saw snow with them.

I expect my experience now with the updated "pinna" will be as good or better.

We got hit with snow pretty bad last night and I had a very tough time making it into work. I ordered a set of 16" steelies wrapped in Blizzak's on Friday, hopefully they will be here by the end of the week. I decided to just go with 2 sets, this should keep me good on tires for a few years.

i just put on Kuhmo ASX from my SPTs i will tell you how they work on very twisty mountain snow roads that are crappy because its Jersey. I'll let you know the dry performance in comparison to the SPTs, let me just tell you that the SPTs allready outperformed the Stock Potenzas. Kuhmo ftw!

Jersey?? Phooey! Hahah, jk. Sorry, I'm just biased to dedicated winter tires in a consistently snowy/crappy-road season. The AWD system can make up for the shortcomings of all-seasons to an extent, however for 2wd like this guy's 6s, I still strongly recommend a winter set, if not at least a good "rain tire." I suggest you take a good look at the tire survey results on tirerack.com to see how other owners rate their tires' snow-worthiness.

A snow tire is def the way to go. If I had 16's or 17's on the car I'd probably go all season but with an 18" wheel, it's difficult to find anything that'll be good in all weather condition.

After getting over 100 inches of snow last winter, I decided to get a dedicated set of snow wheels. It's the only way to go IMO.

I'm another member of the Pzero club. 225/40/18s here, since the 215/45 were too expensive for my taste. Good experiences after about 4500 miles on them, including light snow and ice.

Were the 225/40's on aftermarket rims or shoehorned into the stock rims somehow? I know specs require a 7.5" minimum width, but my ex-roommate, Mr. Right swore that they'd be "fine" on my 7" rim. (I got 225/45's instead anyways.)

Without a doubt... get the Goodyear Eagle F1 Ultra High Performance A/S tires. Believe it or not, they grip BETTER than the stock Potenza summer tires that came with my MSP. AND they handle surprisingly well in the snow. How can you beat that?

I just put a set of 225/40/18 Goodyear Eagle GT on my stock rims and they work great! Stuck like glue off of a stoplight even in the slush/light snow here in the Chicago area. First time driving in these conditions with an AWD car also and I love it!

Have you driven it in more then just slush? I'm interested to find out how they handle in a couple inches of snow.

Don't forget, though, that the speed6's AWD system is near unstoppable. Comparisons should be taken with a little grain of salt, IMO.
