O.k., first off don't say anything about doing a search, I did a search! Do you know how many threads come up if you search "engine cover"????? And none of them list the info I am asking for so here goes.

I have seen several types of engine covers for the P5 on members cars.

I think it would help new folks and me if someone who knew them all could list them with prices and where to buy them.

Thanks very much.

Also; does anyone make a VERY affordable poly/high tech plastic engine cover for the P5? Something I could paint?

why not just paint the valve cover (just curious as to your reasoning or preferrences)?

Matt, great question. Several reasons; taking the valve cover off the car and painting it is a time intensive job that frankly, I don't want to do.

In my humble opinion the engine in the P5 looks like crap, with all of the wires on top of it even if I painted the valve cover, all of the wires would still make it look like crap (in my opinion).

Putting an engine cover on would be a lot easier and would cover up all of the wires and would make the engine compartment look better (in my opinion).

Matt, you are very knowledable, could you put a list together for me an the new guys?

some very valid points. have you seen my engine bay, i dont think it looks bad? but either way, DG Motorsports sells a carbon fiber cover (see my sig for link to group buy)...other than that i think the mp3 or msp cover will fit and can be painted, but youll have to find someone to part with it. if you DID decide to paint your valve cover, you can get color matched spray paint if necessary from www.paintscratch.com , though its a bit hefty at 30 bucks for a 12.5oz can.

what i said above is pretty much all i can think is available, though you could prolyl find the mp3 and msp ones at car-parts.com or whatever :( sorry, i wish i had more answers, but i truly think those are all thats available. the DGM one is pretty damn sick looking, but it just doesnt go with my current engine bay theme, or else id have one :D and a carbon fiber strut bar to go with it :D

ceej...
I know how you feel, but there's only three options available at the moment.
1) Paint your valve cover like Matthew suggested.
2) DG Carbon Fiber engine cover
3) MP3, or MSP engine cover, but you would need their metal engine cover as well. or you can try to get brackets from DG, but they won't sell them seperately, even if you get the brackets, later you costs will be very similiar to DG cover.(cause MP3, MSP engine cover is over $100)

Yea, I would love to have the one from DG, but 200 large is not my idea of affordable.

I have seen some other styles on members cars that are not carbon fiber that must be more affordable.

hmmmmm

There are a lot of high tech plastics these days, I am surprised that noone has designed one of that material.

well they come stock so theyre REAL affordable :D

Oh, I did not know that. But like Bijou said, even if I bought one from a member who say, totalled their MSP then I would not be able to get the brakets.

if you buy mine, you don't need to :D
and MSP or MP3 don't have brackets, you need their metal valve cover to mount plastic engine cover

Or DJ can make one in plastic that could be painted for people like me.

Price it at about seventy five dollars, I bet it would cost twenty five to make.

So you want someone to buy yours but they will need to buy a metal valave cover to mount it too?

good luck
