Alignment

My car seems to be pulling to the right a bit, so I was thinking about getting an alignment done.
Good idea?

Proteges like to follow the crown in the road. Drive in the left hand lane of the 417 and see if it still pulls..

That said, getting an alignment never hurts, especially if it's been a while since the last one.

I just got the car, so I'm wondering if it is just me.
Who knows when it was last aligned, that's why I am thinking of just getting it done anyways.

Don't go to the shop and say 'give me an alignment'. Tell them the problem and let them find the correct fix.

I think I am just being overly picky, so I'll just leave it for a while and see if it gets worse at all

Maybe you are being overly picky, but if you think it needs an alignment, it probably does. A mis-aligned car is not only a pain to drive, but you will also wear out tires prematurely. I would definitely get it to an alignment shop and have them at least check it.

put more air in the right tire. or less in the left.

(hand) That's a good one.

You always want to run the correct air pressures in your tires, and you want the same on the left as is in the right. Changing pressures to balance out an alignment problem is a band-aid fix, and is not fixing the actual problem. (no)

I never suggested that he unbalance them, but usually when the car is pulling it's because of tire pressure or the crown in the road. An $80 alignment would be the last thing I would do.

If I took this car to the shop everytime a CEL came on, or I heard a rattle, or it stalled.... I'd be the poorest SOB on the planet. Checking tire pressure seemed like a logical thing to do, add or remove pressure as required.

Sorry 'bout that thrasher, but you weren't specific on that. Checking the pressures is routine maintenance, and you are right that he should check them. But you didn't say to check them, you just said to put more in one or take some out of the other, and to me it sounded like you were telling him to adjust the pressure to fix the car's pulling to the right.

I ended up getting the alignment done, it was waaay off, so everything is better now!
I had checked the tire pressure first, and it was perfect, and the tire wear seemed fine, so the next logical step was alignment
