Alarm system question

Hi
I have a question on the lock/ alarm system. Last day went to a shop while my friend was waiting in my cx5. The car locked automatically as i walked away with the key fob. Later my friend decided to get out of the car with me still away from my car, the alarm system kicked in... He could open the door but i cave to cancel the alarm using key fob.

Is it normal? Is there a way to disable alarm when someone is inside the car?

Yes it's normal. You can leave the key in the car or crack the door open. There may be other ways... but those are the two I've used myself.
