You have to remove or at least drop the plate to tap it, which means unbolting the tranny. While its a better spot for the oil return line its more work.
you dont necessarily need to seperate your motor and trans. If you feel comfortable enough, you can drill two holes in the mbsp to access those two bolts behind the flywheel. I have done this on two of motors with no problems.
