Air/Fuel Gauge problems

OK...I had my air/fuel gauge hooked up for 6 months or so and it was working fine. About 2 weeks ago I blew up my motor(lots of fun but thats another story) I had it replaced with a used motor(33k mi) and now the gauge is pegged rich all the time, it doesnt cycle or anything. I replaced the signal wire to the gauge and same results. I have no CEL. The ground is fine. Need help please, I rather not blow up another motor. Thanks

Well Im not sure what the problem could be, but if you want an accurate reading to help ensure your not running to rich or to lean I would highly recommend a wideband. Your narrowband might read rich or lean but if your rich at 13 under full throttle instead of around 11 or so, it could cause big problems. Thats just my opinion anyways.

I definately understand the benefits of a wide band but right now I am just trying to figure what is going wrong with my narrow band. Could the O2 sensor be bad without throwing a CEL?

Ok

So i ran the diagnostic and came back withe code P0031.

1. Open or closed circuit condition
2. Open fuse
3. Failed HO2S 11

mind you I didn't have a CEL

I checked all my fuses and relays and they are fine.

I replaced the O2 sensor

I am still having the same issue. I would have thought my gauge could be broken but the code makes me think otherwise.

Can anyone help me, Please....

Is the car driving any differently, or is the weirdness isolated to the gauge itself?

mine did that too.. i never did figure it out.. then all off a sudden it would start to flicker around.. then would just shut off.. it really started to piss me off, so i honestly bit the bullet and spent some cash to do the wideband.. i went through everything.. and still couldnt find the problem with that bastard!

The car drives a little funny. If I slam the clutch in at a light the RPM's drop low and then even off. My gauge is not broken because I hooked it up to the other o2 sensor at the cat and it read just fine...problem there was it was very slow and not very accurate. Also if I unplug the sensor at the wire harness it does not throw a check engine light which i believe it should. I know this car has been known for some odd problems but this is killing me. Is there something im not seeing...a hidden fuse maybe...idk

when i had my narrowband it would do that occationally so i would get under the car and wiggle the wires where they are spliced and sometimes it would work haha but i threw mine out the window they suck
