I have a problem. I hooked up my air/fuel ratio gauge and it work and everything but my check engine light stays on. Is there anyother way of hooking it up so the check engine light doesn't stay on?? Please let me know some info if anybody has any.

I have a Proteg5 and want to install this guage. So far I have found 4 wires (2 for heating & 2 for the ECU) leading from the sensor.

1. How many wires do you have leading from the sensor?
2. Which wire (color) did you tap into?

Thank you,

Jason Krotine

Ill make this real simple for everyone...

follow the O2 wire from the sensor to the first clip....then after the clip cut the sleeve and expose the four wires....
Find the large gray wire-this is the one you want to clip onto.

The gray part is just a lining...so you have to cut it open VERY CAREFULLY and expose the actuall sender wire inside it...tap into this wire and you are good to go.

Hey Greddy,
that is what I did and the after math was the gauge worked but I have check engine light. How do I hook it up with out the light?????

Are you sure you didnt accidentally sever the wire with the clip?

You did tap into the wire from the first cat right?

Is the clip covered and not touching any other wires?

Did the CEL come on immediately after the first attempt to install this gauge?

I never got a CEL on my car. Hopefully we can figure this out...mabe you should try unhooking the negative batt wire for a while....although I dont see how that could change anything.

Yeah I probably phucked the wires up. I will have to get some new wiring harnesses. But I did tap into the first cat. And I also disconnected the battery all night long and the next day also. Probably need new wires.

I hope it isnt too expensive.

Hey, where did you mount your undercar neon? I need some suggestions.

there are two resons why a chech engine light comes on
1. 02 wire/unit
2. gas cap, yes the gas cap
hope this helps

I mounted my neons on the other side of that little lip thing after the ground effects. And the front is right there on that plastic part in front and the back we did up high around the bumper peace steel piece.
Also it is not the gas cap, it is the O2 wiring. Need new wires.

My friend says that it might have to do with the CAI. B/c it screws with the Air/Fuel ratio, if u take it to a dealer they can fix it, just something to look into

Noproblem Greddy. It is not CAI because I didn't have the CAI when we put the gauges on. I know it is the wiring that I did to hook up the Air/Fuel. I went to the dealership and the new wiring harness will cost me in between 200-600 Dollars. I said damn. I will try to find one in a junk yard.

I am doing exactly what you are doing with the Dual Gauge Pods, and the Air/Fuel Mix Meter. The Check Engine Light you are getting will probably have to be reset if nothing else is wrong. After my engine was install, Allen, the tech had to deactivate the Check Engine light with a computer module plugged into the OBDII Diagnostic Conection under the dash on the drivers side.
