air compressor

Sooo, I just found out my girlfriends dad has a 6psi air compressor in their garage. What can I do with 6 PSI other then pump air into my tires? Will it be any good for an impact wrench or any other type of air tools?

Are you sure it's 6 psi and not 6 HP. I don't think I've ever seen a 6 psi compressor, especially considering that sea level air is 14.7 psi. That means that 6 psi compressor would actually be a vacuum.

6 PSI = inflate a football..

PSI + CFM is what you need to know. If it's a 6HP, it probably will be able to run most any air tool.

you know what, while I was typing I was thinking the same thing, "how the hell would 6psi fill up my tires when they need to be at 30-35 psi?" still I did it .
I know I saw the 6 I just didnt pay attention to the HP part of it. So this should be able to power a good sized air tool? Thats great, now I can get air tools and not worry about needing a compressor , specially since I do most of my work at her house.

Coming from a guy who has a big compressor and a lot of air tools (me) I can tell you they're nice for certain things, but for most everyday repairs and maintenance, hand tools are just fine. I do all my own repairs and I rarely take out any air tools. Impact guns are nice for lugs but they will tear up nice chrome ones pretty easily and I always torque them putting them back on anyway. Air rachets are nice for removing a lot of the same kind of bolts/nuts in quick succession, but that's pretty rare really. Mostly what my compressor gets used for is inflating tires and blowgun for cleaning parts.

yeah, I dont plan on using them for most things, but it would have been nice to know that I had access to an compress while I was changing springs instead of ending up breaking the rear endlinks.

Impact gun worked great running down the spring compressor when I changed the springs in my '98 Z28. Air tools ARE nice to have when you need them. When I first bought all of mine many years ago I kind of figured i'd be using them for everything, which wasn't the case.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!! 6PSI will suck the air out of your tires,

if its 6HP thats not bad to fill a tank but the HP means nothing with air compressors really, you wanna look at SCFM@90PSI, should be about 4-6 to run an impact gun properly.

i just got a compressor actually, kicks ass! i have an 8GA 125PSI, 3.7CFM@90PSI, i can run my impact gun fine but the tank has to recharge after every wheel (5 lugs on and off). i just dont know why i didnt get a compressor earlier. all you need is a compressor and you can run any tool.
if your framing a basement like i am the drill, nail gun and screw drive will come in handy.
