Ahhh, Spring

So I swapped my winters out this past weekend. Ya, probably a little too early but I couldn't wait anymore. I also gave my MS3 a good wash (Zaino car wash) and a blow-dry (Red Max Backpack blower). I had NOT washed my car since last November, so I was interested to see how she held up under all the road grime and such. I got to say I was impressed. I got one small rock chip on the very edge of the hood which I touched up. Other than that she's shining like a million bucks- like new

And this morning I took the highway to work and decided to put aside Morrissey's newest masterpiece and instead enjoy the sweet music of that engine. All winter I held back- mostly because I was wearing winter rubber. Of course the other benefit of staying off the highway is staying away from the salt spray and sand blasting.

I tell ya it's always nice to miss something for a while. I forgot how fast she is and how much that engine likes to pull. Keeping it cooking at around 4,000 rpm produces the nicest roar. It's like falling in love all over again

Needless to say the ride into work this morning was very enjoyable.

Im gettin ready to do the same thing. Gonna clean the car up, detail the front end to get the chips out, install a clear bra, and wax the whole thing. Summer tires are in the garrage callin to me.

And yeah this car moves. The other night I was coming home from a movie at 2:30 am through worcester on 290. Its like a roller coaster when there is no on on it. Fast dips and curves, great fun at 65, is a screem at 80mph. I was wishin i had my summer tires on.

I did the same this Sunday was also a little worried it was too soon. Got the car out on the road and the feeling with the summer tires on is just awesome car hooked up stayed hooked up when you got on it.

One chip! Damn you're lucky you fared much better than I did. Mine looks terrible. I'm going to have to get skilled in the art of touching up!

You know when I was young, naive and didn't have responsibility. When I though that getting frost-bite from washing my car in near freezing weather was a right of passage, I probably would have reacted the same.

I also felt an incredible sense of accomplishment and instant gratification removing all that smut. Having the wheels off also allowed me to clean the factory rims inside and out.

You know what they say, with age comes wisdom...

That's probably one reason I faired better. I work off of rt 30 so coming down 85 to 30 is a no brainer. When I want to have some fun I take 495S to Mass Pike and take the rt9 exit.

SO do you still have the factory Bridgestones?

My regular 93 N/S commute is awful. They sanders drop boulders of salt rock.
I have the OEM tires. I have a second set I bought of a guy on this forum. I thought about changing but the deal he offered was so good.

My winters are Blizzaks REVO's and they've been great in the winter.

Yeah, I know all their spots. 190 is actually the better road for high speed fun as a good junk of it has rails on both sides, and its usually free from the police.

I was coming up from the Milbury theater, so I didn't make it to the 140 overpass.

The other spot they have which is really nasty is the last overpass on 290E, they sid on the side of the road, in plain view in the shadow of the overpass. Very hard to see, kinda a camoflage effect. They tend to have 2 cruisers there, one taggin people and one chasing down the speeders who don't pull over.

I was able to wash and wax my car this weekend. Its still holding up pretty well in the front from the winter blasting. Though I did take it to a car wash a few times this winter to get off all the s***.

I will be taking off the winters soon but I know as soon as I do it will snow 14".

I too put my summer wheels back on this past weekend. The two foot long scratch and dent along my rear passenger door had me feeling a little down last week so I needed a pick me up. I was all out of cocaine.

I know I was scared that it would snow the minute I pulled the winters off. This is one of the reasons I run A/S during the warmer months (Pirelli P-Zero Nero right now). If I lived in a warmer climate I'd go the summer route but for me having A/S gives me some added security just in case we get snowfall in May (!) which has happened in MA.

Some of the better performing A/S also offer longer treadwear, which I know is a bit of a tradeoff for performance. But having to buy new summer rubber every couple of years gets expensive and a bit hard to rationalize when you have a family.

I think that's fair enough! I bought some rubber off a guy on the forum few thousand miles so I'm very pleased. I decided if it snows or it may snow I will take public transportation to work so I'll be safe. The last big snowfall we had I was so fed up with shoveling and driving in the crappy weather I didn't move my car all week.
