mickeyreategui said:i just did my hood i bought for $150 had the gel coat peeling, so i hit it with 400 grit sand paper for a little bit and then cleared it, look brand new. try sanding it out because that gel coat is pretty thick.
so will your guys hoods do this? from what i can tell you are saying is that they won't, which is one of the reasons when i get mine im getting yoursCrazyCaker said:This is a classic example of exactly what I try to explain to ppl. The cause of this "clouding" is due to UV unstable gel coat, there is no clear coat on the hood. With our products we use a special (patent pending) gel coat like product, AND also finish each product with PPG clear coat, resulting in a truely 100% UV stable product.
Unfortantely, there is no way to completely remove the damage to your hood because it is into the gel coat. Sanding, and applying a clear coat can help but some traces of the damage may still be visible and may even return. I'd suggest painting it body color.
