Aggressive fitment anyone?!

whats the clearance difference between a pro5 and this? i really wanna squeeze 9" in there, but idk what offset i need to find

from what iv read theres just a small difference in the rear quarter, maybe 2-3 mm difference?

and iv talked to dj dub who test fitted some 9's and i actually did some extensive measuring earlier today, and iv come to agree that a 9 inch wheel with a +30 would be the lowest offset possible, before u hit the strut/coilover. so i think that the offset should stay between +30 and +20, before it starts lookin like funkalicious when he test fit those BBS's.

my 2cents cuz iv been contemplating this for a while, lol

Pick up where I left off son ;)

this is all i got as far as pictures......the +30 will BARELY CLEAR by maybe 1-2 mm, lol leaving no room for camber......but if u fit it as +30 it should work with a proper stretch, anything lower will prob need some camber, have u seen funkalicious' set up? its hard to compare though since he modified his quarter panels

edit: O yea man i should tell u the measurments iv takin are on my car, a sedan, and i dont have coilovers, im running modified struts and sleeves, so the clearance to coils might be different, idk

So 17x8 +45 w/ 235/45R17...

Do you think it will rub in the front? I'm thinking they will rub when I make hard turns. I think a 5mm spacer in front will fix that, but fender clearance will be tight, for sure.

that sounds about right (assuming you meant highest, not lowest), seeing as an 8" hits anywhere above 47.

how would 5 mm spacers help?

There's more to fitting a wheel/tire than just fender clearance... I'd like to be able to turn lock to lock without scraping the fender well. (thumb)

i just dont understand how it will help to not rub.

Look at my prior post, I can't really explain it much more... Wheels rub on more than just the fender; you have to worry about both sides of the wheel/tire, not just the outside. If I put on a 5mm spacer, that's 5mm more clearance to the strut, & also to the fender liner/fender well when I make sharp turns. 17x7 +55 w/ 225/45R17 rubs the fender liner when you make a full lock turn. If I had a 235/45R17 on 17x8, I'm not sure if a +45 offset would give me adequate clearance on the inside. Basically, I don't want to run 235 width tires; especially w/ a 45 sidewall. 225/45 is more than enough rubber for me, let alone 235/45. Just added rubs/trouble for no performance gain. Probably would hurt my acceleration more than help my grip.

FYI: 245/45/16 at +47 does the exact same thing.. but other than the marks in the fender, I'd never noticed.

as for helping grip or not... I can say this: same road, same conditions, on my 215/45 RE750s on the racing harts, if I applied full throttle to first gear (no dumping of clutch) as soon as full boost built I would get wheel spin. On the 245/45s on lighter tires (potentially more ability to spin due to less intertia) I get none, so I can say with confidence I KNOW I'm getting more grip now.

Other factors:
Both are summer tires, but obviously my Ventus RS2s are a lot higher traction grade than RE750s, they're also newer (my RE750s are literally OEM), but the RS2's are very nearly at the end of their tread life..

Word. But I don't ever hit boost, lol. The Hankook Evo v12's @ 225 are more than enough grip for me. I believe the Evo's are a step above the RS2's grip wise, also.

And marks in the fender liner are one thing (I've eaten them up in the past, so they should b worn away in the right places anyways, but...), I just don't want to hear rubber on plastic scraping when I make sharp turns. I like turning heads for good reasons, not because I'm making obnoxious rubbing noises.

Plus, I don't want to add more unsprung mass to the wheel than I have to. I'm trying to get a light wheel purposely; I don't want to negate any gains from lightweight wheels by getting an unnecessarily big tire.

Very possible. I'm looking forward to finishing up burning these up and running the RE-01s and the star specs. Both should afford more traction than the RS2s, even at 225/50. Personally I don't feel adding weight by going to a heavier tire will ever hurt you. they didn't make a song about "where the rubber meets the road" for nothing.

Like I said, I have burn marks in the plastic and undercoating worn off... but I've never heard a thing.

we need a compiled list of wheel/tire/offset fitment guide
or more importantly
min/max wheel/tire/offset fitment guide since more than likely anything in between should fit

Star Specs are incomparably more grippy than those RS2's.

I guess you can do that, but where would the limits be? Fender rolls & pulls will vary by each individual job. So just stock fitment? No alterations to camber or fenders?
