Age of MSP owners?

24, second car. drove my 1995 volvo 850 into the ground (220,000mi) then decided i needed something that didn't suck quite as much

Old farts unite!!!!

35.......and still doin' it.

My first car was a 1983 VW Rabbit GTI. It was 1988 and I was a Junior in High School. My senior year I...and I mean I did a full Techtonics rebuild, Techtonics exhaust, custom intake, Planed head .0040 of an inch to bump compression from 8.5 to 9.2:1, and a mild port job, a schrick 268 cam with high rev springs and a variable cam timing sprocket, Jacobs ignition, dual downpipe, match ported everything, Autotech swaybars 22mm front and 28mm rear.

I used to love screwing with 325 BMWs, Saab Tubos and Porsche 944s. My wittle bwack wabbit embarassed faster cars with style(especially redneck Novas and choked up 80's Monte Carlos and Firebirds). Imagine you just laid out 35K for a 944(a LOT of dough for a car in 1988) and some high school punk in a black rabbit leaves your ass a stop light, or haunts your rear bumper down I-95 @ 120+mph......oh I remember the looks of disbelief!!

Old Guy!

I'm 47. Young at heart I guess. I enjoy my msp. My wife and kids enjoy it too. Especially my 21 year old son.

And, NO, this is not my mid-life crisis. That was a few years ago. It was a '72 Datsun 510, complete rebuild.

ROFL, my second car, (and first "decent" car) was a bone stock '84 Rabbit GTI in black, except it had some ground effects on it. It was 1987 and I was 17 years old (yes, I'll be 37 this year). My top end was only about 105 mph with that massive 90hp stocker, but it handled great. The Techtonics 2020 was my dream motor. A buddy had it in his tricked-out '79 Scirocco (stripped down to almost 1600 lbs.) and we used to embarass Mustang GT's with it.

Yeah, even with either 90-115 hp, those old GTI's are quick! They weigh in about 1900-2100 stock. I remember watching one of those Top Gear Old versus New generation cars and the old GTI spanked the lastest 1.8T.

Srsly! lol I don't doubt that a bit. the best thing to make a car perform better is make it lighter, and car manufacturers are ignoring that simple fact.

Nice!!!...good to see some VW fans about the place. I figure I was into the mid 140HP range with everything I did. It was finicky after the head work...like a switch at about 4200 rpm, it "came alive" all the way to about 6800. I had an adjustable cam timing sprocket on it too(+or- 5 degrees) so I could "dial in" the power band but needless to say, you had to keep the revs up.

It was capable of running down 16v GTI's and Sciroccos that VW was selling in the late 80's. (Scirocco 0-60 in about 7.7sec if I remember) Fastest ever was about 126mph, that was at about 6800 rpm too as they were pretty low geared (.389 final I think) I figure I was pulling 0-60 in low 7's and high 14's in the 1/4 mile with it as well. (Casio..lol)
