Howdy All,

Well, getting ready for a little Road Trip, putting a few things in
the hatch around the spare tire and noticed the Tie Down Bolts aren't there.

I checked on the forum, found they're available from the Dealership,
for about 50 for both. I'd ask the Dealership were they are but haven't
had a very good relationship with them after the Delivery. (bang)

So, I was wondering if anyone has bought or found any Aftermarket
ones that would work in an emergency if you need to get pulled out of a
ditch or get stuck somewhere. I looked and didn't see anything underneath
where you could tie a rope or chain if needed.

Also, any idea what the Thread Size is ???

Howdy Chris,

Thanks so much I'd seen that from them but got kind of confused with the way the part was displayed.
I sent in an order already, so hopefully they might get here before we leave.

Thanks so much again for your help.

I never checked mine for these, I'll have to go look. I got too distracted by the wheel lock rumbling around..

As has been noted a few times on the forum, they are NOT included with the 2016's even though they were included in prior years and there is still a "spot" for them in the spare tire surround. Probably could get them pretty cheaply from a wrecked CX-5.

For some reason, the 2016 North American Mazda Models are not coming with these items. (bang)
In fact on some other cars, like the new Miata, it does not include the tiedown or even a JACK.
I have been following a thread on Miata.net forum where folks are ordering the jack and tie downs from a Mazda Parts Vendor.

2016 CX5 surprised by missing tie-downs

Yeah Mazda has decided taking out two tiedown eyelets for 2016 CX-5. Ride92 was smart and he asked the dealer to throw them in before he closed the deal. But we didn't and I ordered these to fill these two empty slots on the styrofoam tool case around the spare tire. They are expensive though and here are the part numbers:

KD53-50-EJ1B Hook, Towing $29.29 (List) for front (long)
KD53-50-EJ2B Hook, Towing $19.80 (List) for rear (short)

Finding these from on-line Mazda parts should be at least 20% cheaper.

Now I don't have any empty slots:

we asked the same thing as saw them in a 2015 model we test drove before deciding to go with the 2016

dealer's explanation was that mazda decided the frame slots were for in transit tie down, not for getting towed or winched out as some people used them for

Howdy All,

Just an update, received the Front and Rear Tie Down Bolts today. Had a really good
experience, great communication, excellent updates, I Used CL Wilson from the Link that Chris suggested.
They're pricing was less than the other places that I'd contacted, the bolts and shipping ended up being what
the other places wanted for just the Bolts. They're brand new, in plastic, with the Mazda Part's Tag on them.

Very pleased with CL Wilson, will certainly check them out next time before ordering anymore parts.

Thanks Chris !!!!
