Has anyone heard (when, what type, brand, ect...) about the kit to install an aftermarket radio into the CX-7's ? I dont really want to have RCA adapters off of the stock radio and I dont really want fab my own kit, but Im gettin tired of waiting. Any info or ideas would be great. Thanks.

The MA1533B is currently under development and we expect it to be available within a few months.

Feel free to contact in 2 months for a better ETA.

From what I heard, Alpine is supposed to have their dash kits for the CX-7 any day now. I was told last week that it would be within "the next two weeks".

Hey Rabbit, Have you looked into installing a Pioneer AVIC-Z1 combo Nav/Audio system? My installer at Ultimate Audio here in Florida says it will pop right in and pretty much, "do-it-all". 30 gb HD, Full I-Pod onscreen, satellite, bluetooth, rear camera, voice NAV. He had no problem fabbing a trim panel, but was concerned about the hazzard flasher switch. He didn't know if it was an integral part of the head unit panel without pulling it out.

Ace,

I've looked at the Alpine IPA-W200 which is similar to the Pioneer you're talking about. I favor Alpine for their iPod controls... and it does all the same (nav w/live traffic, bluetooth, rear camera, DVD, HD/Satellite/AM/FM Radio).

In the recent Mazda Speed magazine there's actually a picture of the CX-7 with the Alpine unit installed and it looks NIIICCCE. :)

From what I know, the hazard button is NOT part of the head unit. Like I said, Alpine says they're going to have the dash kit available any day now, so that tells me the hazard switch shouldn't be a problem (of course I can't tell you for sure... yet).

I'll have to check that Alpine unit out. I do like their equipment. I feel your frustration! (dunno) When we techies want something, we want it NOW! The CX-9 seems to have alot of these issues covered and hopefully, the next generation ('08s) of the Seven will follow suit. In the mean time, Good Luck with your quest! Ace

I couldnt wait. I ripped out the stock radio and the hazard swith isnt part of the radio. The stock radio is in two pieces , with the front of the radio is actually a support. I had to cut up the front of the stock radio and installed a Pioneer 6800. Looks pretty good with the 7" screen. I will try to post some pics soon.

also of note: i highly suggest the steering wheel adapter for the alpine decks.... can still use all of the functionality of the left side controls on the new deck!

also patiently awaiting a dash kit... any word?

I spoke to my audio guy Thursday and he's calling around again... Scosche says they'll have one soon and they already have the Bose harness (if you need it) and steering wheel harness. Metras doesn't have it yet... audio guy was going to try to find dates. I'm ready to go, just waiting on the kit now.

CX, Your saying we will be able to use our steering wheel buttons on an aftermarket head unit? And also the Bose amp and speakers?

Giddy - yup. It's not an issue at all according to Scosche. Wiring harnesses are already available.

I cant find them on scosche's website. Is there somewhere else that I can get them? Just wondering because I'm thinking about putting a double din Pioneer in when we get a dash kit but would like to keep the bose amp and speakers in the car. Thanks!

CXRabbit I've enjoyed reading your posts, especially after I saw your opinion on random mode disabling when you skip tracks. I feel like I'm not alone in the mad, cruel world. I hope you'll post pictures of your setup when it's done.

A couple questions: I can't find images of what navigation looks like on the Alpine unit you mentioned. Got a link? Also, will that unit use the microphone built into the CX-7, or do you have to use the one it comes with?

Giddyup... Call them. That's how I got the info, not on their website.

Luxo... I'm glad (and sorry at the same time) you can relate! I will post pictures... I'm just waiting for all the pieces to fall into place. I'm calling my audio guy tomorrow so I'll post an update on what I find out.

Check out Pioneer's site too... the Z1 is pretty rockin'.
