Aftermarket GPS

All those people who didn't opt for the in dash GPS, where did you end up mounting your GPS? I hate the look of the cord running across my dash (and really don't want to put 3M tape on my new baby) and really hate the look of a suction cup mounted on the front window.

Not really an option. It seems to fit into the cubby quite well.

The factory one, is not cheap either. I also hear, that is not that great. Kenwood uses Garmin navigation.
I have picked up a used(broken) Kenwood and I have drop it off at Kenwood service center and they repaired if for $205.
Around $350-400 you can pick up one, in good working order. Check out Ebay. I could recommend a DNX6990HD.

It's possible to have the nav installed separately from the tech package. Ran about $500 last I checked. Steep for what has rather poor reviews, so I also did not opt for it. I use Navigon on my iphone, which is suction mounted on the left of the windshield. I bought a black usb extension cord and keep it in place with thin, invisible strips of poster tack, which is amazing for its ability to hold in all temperatures and leaves no mark.

I use the beanbag mount on my Garmin, and, just plop her up on the dash. I never had much luck with the suction cup mounts - kept falling off.

Not really an option. It seems to fit into the cubby quite well.

I tried mine in the cubby but it was hard to see and it had trouble finding the satellites. I mounted it to the windshield all the way to the left, touching the dash. I ran the cord down between the door and the edge of the dash and into the fuse box that is by your left foot. I wired in a 12 volt socket in the fuse box. Now the GPS comes on with the ignition, no cord shows, and it doesn't block my vision of anything except part of my hood.

I have an old C550 Garmin in the cuby and it works excellent. This is, until I install my Kenwood. This weekend will be 106 around here.

I bought an iOttie from Amazon. It's actually quite difficult to pop off the glass once on, I have to use a butter knife.

I bought a KUDA dash base and a SOSCHE magnetic holder for my Nexus 5. The KUDA doesn't fit as neatly as I was expecting, had a previous KUDA base in my older car, but it serves its purpose well.

FWIW, I use the ProClip mount (http://www.proclipusa.com/dashboard-mounts/vehicle/mazda/cx-5/2012-2015/proclip-center-mount-854752-18930.cmsv) and absolutely love it. It's in a good spot to see, it doesn't block any controls, and it's not sticking up into my window space.
