Aftermarket exhaust and the popo

Hey guys..So I read the Ohio laws regarding exhausts and meeting decibel requirements..I'm in Columbus. Does anyone know if this is strictly enforced? Can I get away with just a new catback on the speed3?

I doubt you will have issues with police if you use a quality catback set-up.

I think you will be fine. I have backfired near a cop on numerous occasions, they look at you for a minute and go back to what they were doing. I have a full turbo back exhaust by CNT on Speed3.

lol..pretty funny. i'm always reading that it's up to the cop's discretion. i'm considering the vibrant dp-back though.

One thing that has always bothered me as far as exhaust noise goes. Cops hassle cars with loud exhausts yet they completly ignore every Harley Davidson with straight pipes. It's just not right! End rant.

I think jake's problem was the window tint, I told him how to get that handled lol but if straight piped ricers and hillbilly hotrods can get away with it I think you can.

Done this too w/ an uncatted exhaust. Unless you are doing something stupid they don't care and will only come up as add on to the ticket if the cop wants too. Some subburbs might give you s*** like UA

I *knocks on wood* haven't been pulled over for my exhaust on the RX7, which is corksport without a cat, and loud as hell. I think any DISI will be fine.

Well, Had a Tint Issue in Columbus, then had a "Cracking Exhaust Noises" ticket in Parma Heights Late November. I was stupid and spun 2nd gear hitting rev limiter with EWG in front of Arabica right near the Parma Heights City hall at midnight. Cop was sitting right there.. let just say I will never do that ever again unless I am on the highway. Cost me 5 hours of work (had to go to court, couldn't pay it off) and $65 for the Fees/Court costs.

I have a 2.3 04 6, with straight pipes and dynomax super turbo mufflers with hot rod tips that also have baffels in them, and headers also a sri. I haven't had any problems had this set up for about 4 months. It sounds good and ( can be loud when you want), but also can be quite with about 20% throttle an 2,700 rpm its quite, and when you let off youll get some back fire but no one takes it to mind much. Youll be ok.
