After installing RPMC Inlet

I installed my inlet today, and is it normal for my forge bypass valve to sound different? Or am I leaking somewhere?
 
not sure about the forge but my hks had a different sound after installing the cobb one - if you had a leak you would prob have an erratic idle or noticeable performance issue
 
bpv/bov sounds change with the inlet. yes. if its more of a flutter sound then go over an check you're couplers and clamps, it could be compressor surge if not installed properly.
 
Turbo inlet question?

I installed my yesterday as well, I went for the Cobb inlet, but I have not drive the car enough to notice any big difference, what I did notice is that the sound coming from the intake is a little more profoundbut that might be just me.. idk?
I guess my question to any expert here at this forum is Do I have to use a different map from the AP? And what should I be looking for to notice the big difference?
 
Fluttering under low boost is perfectly normal and wanted to be honest. If you tune your BPV to where there is no flutter it will be too soft and not hold boost. If too much then you will get Surge which is not wanted. Flutter at mild boost is good and at full boost you should just get the blow off without any flutter.

Does that apply to all BOVs? I have a Turbosmart Ultimate and it doesn't flutter and low boost. Can you tell me the exact boost number where you'd normally release and get the flutter. I'm just trying to see if mine is set to soft.

When I had a turbo inlet I was surging on low boost. I played with my bypass valve as much as I could and never got rid of it. Since i liked the sound of the stock inlet better I ended up going back to that.

As far as the bypass valve setting, I get mine to flutter at 5 psi pretty easily.
 
RichB, since you and I have the same valve and your flutters and mine doesn't, can you do me a favor. Can you measure the gap, and let me know? Here's what I'm talking about.

If you had a leak it would run like POO beleive me. I half-assed the first install of my first inlet pipe and it was very noticable. My Forge doesn't sound lek it should either. No "ping" :(
 
mine is a little under 3/16ths

Hey RichB, thanks for your help. I think mine is set at 1/4", maybe a little too soft. I'm gonna take a look after work, and probably tighten it a little, see if that makes any difference.

That sucks. My s*** got crazy loud when I did the Turbo Inlet Pipe.
