Hello Everybody

I know there have been previous threads on this subject, but I've got one question those either one void your warranty? Still haven't made up my mind on which one to get.

Thanks

NO, NO aftermarket part put on your car will void your warranty just by installing it....and if a dealer tells you that...they are lieing through their teeth.

NOW....if the aftermarket part fails and damages something else.....do not expect THAT PART to be covered by your warranty....

if you want ALL the details.....look up the Magunuson-Moss Warranty Act.

Thanks Sir Nuke

Let me see if I understand this correctly, if a aftermarket product damages something in the engine the warranty covers what was damge, but not the aftermarket product?

well i think i know what his point is but lets clearify that most parts DO void warrenty .. as for an example if i was to install a 50,100,250 shot of NOS that would completly void any and all warrenties for my engine the very first time i use it .. that is for sure ..but its a fine line now that mazda is selling aftermarket CAI and other parts .. i mean how can it be voiding the warrenty if we do it but if they use there aftermarket parts it does'nt now I know that most things like this will say if the item is installed by anyone other then a dealer or in this case (ceritified Mazda Tech) then the Warrenty for that "item" would be void .. or a stereo . you get from like Best buy ... they have a warrenty but if you choose to do the installation yourself it will void some of the warrenties and Best Buy is not responcable

NO...you don't understand.....

IF you put an aftermarket part on your car...and the aftermarket part fails/breaks....and that causes something else on your car to break.....the warranty will NOT fix ANY OF IT. because it was not a fault of the MAZDA part that caused the damage..

example....you get an intake....and after a while the filter falls apart and gets all sucked into your engine and causes damage.....your warranty will not fix your engine....because it was not mazda's fault that the aftermarket filter fell apart....

clear?

but at the same time....you get the same intake on your car...and lets say your struts blow out......your warranty WILL cover your struts...as they have nothing to do with your intake...and there is no way that the intake could have caused any problem with them.

NO THEY DON'T......the only way ANY aftermarket part is going to void ANY PART of your warranty is if that aftermarket part fails and causes some damage....the same goes for your NO2 kit as I stated above....just because you put a 50 shot on your car and if your Struts go for example the warranty is still going to cover your struts....does that mean that the dealer won't give you a hard time about it? NO it doesn't....but if they refuse to cover your car on a totally unrelated part....they are breaking federal law...plain and simple....

WE have a mameber here that actually blew up his motor with NO2....he went in....remove the the entire system.....had the car towed to the dealer....and got a new motor under warranty.....but that was HIS dealer....not all dealers would that have happened.

I got it now. If the aftermarket product causes some sort of damage the warranty will not cover the damage.

Thanks

So does anyone have the answer on the CAI? I'm getting ready to take MP5 to Injen to have Prototyped but want to know if it's worth it?

no idea what your talking about ..since i already have an Injen CAI and so dont like 30 million other p5 owners

Well, thank for that remark. I can see by reading that many p5 owners already have an Injen CAI. All I can say is they're still protyping the 2003 in Calif. for what? who knows, all Ican say is what they told me.

Maybe there is someone who can let me know what the difference is between AEM and Injen? I would really appreciate it before I make to hasty of a decision.

Most people will tell you go with the Injen and i also think its much better.

From what I have heard its not that much better. If I had to do it again I would get the Injen CAI as the AEM is only a short ram air intake. Althought the filter is down by the bottom bumper. Since I live in Chicago and my car is lowered, I was worried about not only water, but snow.

the DIFFERENCE is that the AEM is NOT a CAI....its what is refered to as a short ram intake.....its airfilter is INSIDE the engine compartment..

and them PROTOTYPING an intake for the '03 P5 truely makes no sence at all.....are you sure they are not wanting to do this with the new MSP? why I say this is the fact that the '03 and '02 2.0L P5's are the same from the standpoint of the engine compartment layout.....the intakes for both are identical....

Thanks Xoom and Nuke for the feedback on that one.

Seeing how both the '02 and '03 are identical engine compartments, why else would they want to prototype any '03's still? You mentioned possibly doing something for the MSP? Do you mean Mazda Speed?

I guess I'll find out friday. I'll let you all know the latest when I get back.

YES, the MSP is the Mazdaspeed Protege...and seeing as how its a turbo and no one to my knowledge has a CAI for it out yet...that may be the only '03 they would need to do a prototype on....
