AEM SRI and Check engine light.....

I installed my new AEM SRI last night and my check engine light came on today.

I disconnected the neg. battery cable first, installed the SRI, hooked the cable back up and it ran like a charm...

Test drove it right after the install....no problem.

Today I drove about 45 miles to my bro's house....no problem...continued to drive another 20 miles or so to the nearest town......no problem....

Just as I was leaving to come home...what da ya know.... the CEL came on. I knew it had something to do with the SRI, but I checked my fluids anyways. Everything was fine.

Got home....unhooked the neg. battery cable again and now the CEL is off. That was just starting it in the garage for a few minutes though. I haven't taken it out driving yet.

Any recommendations???

Did you pump the brakes after disconnecting the battery cable to drain the charge in the caps? That might be the problem.

No I didn't. I heard about that, but I forgot...I better go do that...

Did you install the intake right?

I had the same issue. What had happened to me is that 1 of the hoses from the purge solenoid had come off after I reattached it. Had almost the exact same problems as you.
