CAIs? Which one is better?

So I jsut decided I am buying an intake. But dont know which one is the best intake out there? So far I have read that the Simota, fujita, K&N and the AEM are the best ones. Whats the difference betwee the three? does one make the car sound difference/louder than the other? performance?

Thank you.

Thanks tsunami! Cool dude, looks like a pretty good comptetition to me. Here are my priorities.

In this order:
1) Sound ('growl or roar,' whatever you want to call it, that it gives to the car)
2) Performance (more Hps gained)

and maybe but not necesarily...

3) Price.

So if anyone with AEM, Fujita, Simota or K&N CAIs could give me some feedback/opinion, it would be great!

Thank you.

AEM cold air will give u a damn good sound i lk dat growl it gives u. also not that hard to install, but i guess dat goes for all intakes.

the simota twin charger is alright. nice growl to it at the low rpms, gets pretty damn loud after 6.5k. only gripe i have is the filter is really really close to the wheel well vents but that may be due to my failure in figuring out the design. i paid under a 100 for it from protephile in the group buy he had. good luck

SIMOTA......I had the aem and it was good but the simota IMO is way better. I mean its a CF SRI so it looks much better and you dont hafta worry about water. I also have seen a dyno for the simota showing that it put out just as much as the aem CAI if not more i dont member which it was but it was close. Im just a firm believer in the simota.

is this the simota? http://www.umnitza.com/product_info.php?cPath=81&products_id=272

i hear you guys mention the umnitza, that I am sure there is a seller in this forum. Just wondering if this is the one. Is the shipping included on the $199.99 price?

I was registering, and saw something on the state part that says "Armed Forces [europe, americas, etc]." Is there a discount for military personnel??

umnitza used to be a vendor. when the CF SRI first came out, umnitza claimed it as their own, calling it the umnitza intake. They got called out, So then they claimed to have *tweeked* it to substantiate thier claim of it being their own, when infact it was not their own intake...time went on, stupid childish s*** got slung back and forth and back and forth and bacj and forth.... umnitza eventually got the boot...it was drama like no other... I'm sorry to those who know the story, hate to rehash BS...i'll shut up now.

you can get the Simota SRI thru Oliver at www.xenonexpert.com excellent service.

I like the SRI for looks, peformance and sound. It's easy to install, the quality is very good and the price is good.

Unless you are squeezing every last nano hp out of the engine, just get whatever intake makes ya happy.

where can I find the sri? I found some sites but they dont say exactly sri, and the price is way difference...like one is int he 200s and the other is in the 75s...and they look the same.

here are the sites that i found.

http://www.cosmoracing.com/productinfo.asp?cid=143&pid=1278

http://www.weapon-r.com/store/agora.cgi?cart_id=2587298.11469*040tm8&p_id=652&xm=on&ppinc=search2#

(found it on this thread: http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123634585&highlight=fujita+intake)

I see that most of it narrows down to the SRI and the F2.

Actually my sri from umnitza has a big simota badge riveted onto the intake itself. Umnitza still sells the intake i know this because i just bought it about 3 weeks ago. I never herd of a skirmish tween the two i feel left out.

It's pretty unfortunate, but expected. SRI dynos don't put out much power, if any. If you want the look of the CF, then go with the Simota intake. If you want a real intake, then go with a CAI. http://F2cars.com has the 3.0" intake that performs even better than the AEM intake (check the NA stage 2 thread).

AEM's dyno on a stock 3 (intake was the only mod)
http://www.aempower.com/pdf/dyno/21-487 04 Mazda 3s.pdf

Then you have the Simota/Umnitza intake on a 3 with 17x7 Racing Sparco NT-R's (15.3 lbs)+215/45-17 BFG G-force sports wheel set.

cool. yeah i already checked the n2 stage thread (check my last post, everything i got was from there). I saw they had a group buy over at the MZ3forums. I also saw that the f2 wasnt fit for atx (2.0L?)? (correct me if i am wrong)

I was wondering if it was a good idea to havea CAI if you live in florida. where i live, and for the most in florida, when it rains--it rains hard; and when it's hot--its very hot.

So I got two problems. If I get the CAI I think the hard rain would be a bit too risky. And if I buy a SRI, i wouldnt get much out of it because it already in the bay suckin hood-heated air plus the heat outside would be worse.

Does anyone in FL or with knowledge about this have some advice/opinion?

Thank you.

i dont know if anyone else has mentioned this, but when you remove the stock intake the only part that remains is the part attached to the front bumper/bottom of the car. i never noticed this before, but if you look in through the far right side of the front grill therre is a duct to redirect air into the stock intake. with the stock intake removed, it still redirects the air, but now it just redirects it towards the SRI. i just thought someone concerned with the short ram sucking up hot air would want to know this.

dude check with Protephile he is a vendor here and official rep for Simota in the States. I just got the CAI in the group buy so i got a hell of a deal but he has extras in stock ready to ship.
