2014 mazda 6 touring
Hi there. Have a 2014 i Touring. The manual discourages spraying water in the engine compartment. How have any of you been able to keep the interior of the engine compartment clean and looking "Showroom" new. Havnt got there yet but out here in the desert its gonna get really dusty and sandy in there, Thankyou for any tips and tricks.

Although I haven't been able to clean my 6 (it's still in the body shop after 6 months since the accident (red light runner tboned it) a week after I bought it (second shop since the first one botched the repair... joy). the best way is to 1) use a brush to get the "big" stuff off.... then 2) use a mild foaming cleaner... Sprayway Glass Cleaner works really well unless it's really greasy, then I'll use "Tough Stuff" (both sold at Walmart). Just spray, let the foam work for half a minute, and wipe off. You'll be amazed how well that stuff works... no water, and no uber toxic cleaners needed.

You can spray water all you want just don't spray directly around the injectors and coils with a pressure washer. If you leave the engine cover on you are fine, I used to have to spray off engine bays all the time when I worked at Mazda with the pressure washer in the wash bay, never had a problem. Also, any armor all or tire shine you use on the plastic will make dirt stick much worse.
