So the MSP exhaust bolts right up and only needs the length of pipe between the muffler and the tip shortened? Great!

Actually, I should invite my buddy down with his MSP and take his off and see for myself... I'll take a picture of it unshortened, and if it is only around $195usd ($250cd??), than that could be one of my first mods... (actually the list seems to be growing)

LAVA: does the MP5 sound almost the same as the MSP now?

Yup...it bolts on pretty good...just cut off the tip from the muffler, then cut off about 2-3 inches of the tip and weld it back on...the sound is great...quiet and grrrrrrrrrrrowls.... a lot of sound comes from the catback area...i absolutely love it!... and the power increase is quite noticable...possibly more than my intake

I have the Mazdaspeed axle-back, and it is made for the Protege5. Bolts right on no modification at all.

Part # 0000-8M-C09 (sedan)
Part # 0000-8M-C10 (Protege5)

I got it off of a guy who owned a 03 MSP...really nice guy, for 150 bux. The best 150 bux i ever spent on my MP5!!!

Hey i have all your answers!!! i just bought my p5 three weeks ago.. I found a guy here town that had the mazdaspeed protege and already upgraded all the parts.. so i gave him $80 bucks for his stock muffler (racing beat with mazdaspeed tip).. the install was fast (nice not to have seized bolts for once) only problem was the tip stuck out about 6 inches to far....Wow, i cant have this!!.. a local shop cut the tip off and moved it back.. it fits perfect and sounds nice..not very loud at all but just adds a deep perrr, plus it looks better....the hangers, bolts, fit where all a spot on swap!!!! e-mail me and ill send you pics somethime this week..

I am just relaying to you all:

the part number for the "Mazdaspeed" exhaust - 0000-8M-C10

for the stock Mazdaspeed Protege exhaust - 0000-8M-C09

In case someone didn't know... however the real one needs to be shortened, but sounds quite a bit different from the other.

After hearing what another P5 sounded like with the 10 muffler, I will definately NOT get that one...

Ummm.... I'm not sure why you didnt like the Mazdaspeed exhaust on the P5. I have it on mine and it sounds fantastic. No more annoying whine from the stock exhaust and a nice deep throaty growl from the MS exhaust.

Methinks you should reconsider....

I found the "aftermarket" Mazdaspeed part much noisier than the original equipment Mazdaspeed Protege muffler, with no added umpf...

What are everyone's thoughts on the pipes between the muffler and the cat? Are those worth replacing with the MSP parts too? I'm guessing the bend quality and guage is a bit beefier than the P5 stockers.
