2003 Mazda6s
im stationed at fort bragg, NC. new to the army and mazdas. just bought a 2003 mazda 6s. and lets just say, "i wanna go fast!" not familiar with mazdas though, i was a honda guy back in civilian life (sorry die hards). i wanna start with simple s*** like exhaust and maybe headers, then use some of that useless army money and hit the good s*** like my engine! any advice guys? thanks.

advice is here!!
go with all the bolt ons u can before u hit the engine, because by the time ur done with the bolt ons, theres only one thing left to do, and thats either go turbo and/or upgrade ur internals

protegegarage.com has alot of stuff for the protege and i dont know if they have alot of stuff for the 6 but im really sure they do

my buddy has a 2006 6s and after a cat back, mid pipe, and a cold air it was defiantly a good boost of power. the headers will also free up a substantial amount of power due to the three cats that the 6s exhaust has and the many 90 degree bends. as far as forced induction, i don't know if there are any kits for '05 and below but for the '06's there are no kits out yet...it is all custom fab work. and just like any car get a good tune on it and you will have some good power gains. The exhaust he got was a magnaflow cat back and a custom fabbed mid pipe. the cold air was an ebay pipe. sounds mean...in a good way.

Well if we're talking I/H/E...

The best intake kit in the market for the 6s is the CP-E MAFci. You don't really get a lot of gains from an aftermarket exhaust because there's really little few obstructions. Most people change their exhaust for sound and that's about it. CP-E has headers for the 2003 6s.

As far as forced induction goes, everyone is waiting for tuning solutions which are currently in development.

there are 3 cats and 8 90 degree bends...i would classify that as more than a "little obstruction"

Whoops. I wasn't being clear. The stock exhaust from the cat on back is free flowing. Further up is certainly a different story as evidenced by this photo from model year 2003-2005(?) AJ:

I believe they cleaned it up a bit the following model years, but it's still restrictive.

chage it for a mazdaspeed6 and have an AWD turbo machine! 3 k on mods and you will be in 12s!

if you want your car to sound super loud and possibly crappy get headers...everyone i know that has a v6 6 took them off. too many problems, didnt sound good, etc. CPE i think are the only ones that make them for the v6 and they had a lot of problems. i dont know how they are now though...

as far as "go fast" mods? the CP-E intake is the best but you will really only benefit from it if you load in your own custom tunes. any of the other intakes are all going to do the same thing, they will make more power but dont expect crazy gains.

exhaust...personally i like magnaflow. its the best bang for your buck IMO. i have them on my 6i, and they sound awesome. i have friends that have them on their v6's and they sound good too. all the other exhausts out there are overpriced and dont sound as good.

look into getting a bored out throttle body. a guy on *************** makes them (cant remember the name right now). combine that with an intake you should add some extra power.

LMAO yea, but thats if you go with a bigger turbo and more like 10k on mods! but i did the 12'8 stock turbo!!!!!!!!!!!(idhitit)
even so 3k on mods and if u dont blow up thats pretty sweet. but if ya do ur looking on rlly breaking the bank...the lowest i got was 13.29 on stock turbo how u did that mike is still something everyones shooting for to this day including me..thats of course without the clutch dragging behind me down the track.

look i drove the car as crazy as posible period...... I did a 6 k lunch and power shifted some gears! with 1/4 of fuel in the tank and boost high dont rememver exactly how much but its up there! i did came home in a towing truck after my rear diff bracket snaped! my clucth lasted for about 10k miles more! i did 16 passes in the 1/4 mile! The track was empty and i jut was able to try different thing till i got it right.......and then broke s*** LOL

Oh yeah, good point.

Cordovamotorsports.com

He optimizes the throttle body. He used to bore it out but it resulted in disappointingly few gains for the amount labor it took.

Meh. Not ready to cop out yet.
