Advanced Key not working properly?

Hello all!

I just purchased a MS6 yesterday and have a question on the advanced key system.

Should you be able to lock the car by pressing the door bottun when you get out if the advanced key is in your pocket? Mine just beeps three times and won't lock. I need to press the lock button on the key. The unlock works though.

I just wanted to verify that I should indeed be able to lock the door with the button on the door handle before I take it in for service.

Thanks!

if it just beeping make sure there isn't a spare key left in the car somewhere and that all doors are shut.

Thanks for the response.

All the doors are closed and I can't find an extra key. I just bought it yesterday, so unsure if there is one lying around somewhere.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Also, when I first took it for a test drive, the window conrols for the back doors didn't work. They fixed that, but have no idea what that was about.

when you disconnect the battery you have to reset all of the windows. most likely they pulled/disconnected the battery.

the car had this problem but it was intermittent when I was testing the car. The dealer changed the battery on the remote and I haven't had a problem since.

I know my wife complained about something like that to me. She wasn't turning the ignition all the way back to the off position. I believe she kept putting it in Accessory mode and it would beep at her when she tried to lock it. I would also check the glove compartment, center console, under the seat to make sure that the spare isn't in the car. Then replace the battery to rule that out.

FYI, I was reading the owners manual the other night. According to it, when your key is running out of battery the green "key" light on the instrument cluster will flash or stay illuminated (I can't remember which) for 30 sec. when you turn the car of to let you know your battery is about to go.

Thanks for the responses.

The key is in the lock position and I can't find a spare. I have an appointment scheduled with the dealer in a couple weeks. I'll let them figure it out ;)

yeah how are you locking it if it is just beeping at you? not something i would want to wait a couple weeks for.

I can still lock it, but I need to press the lock button on the advanced key. The request button just won't lock it.

I think I'm going to have them change the setting to the auto-lock feature when you walk away. Do any of you guys have it set up that way? and is there any obvious reason I wouldn't want to do it?

Thanks

You must wait for it to beep at you before you walk away. It is not unbearable, but occasionally you may walk off and the door won't lock.

haha..mine does that all the time...

When it rains, sometimes i have to close the door twice x_x

I got my dealer to activate the auto-lock feature on the day i picked up my car...just have to be more attentive with all these new techie
