2003.5 Blazing Yellow Mica MSP
Last night my friend freaking backed into my front bumper. It doesn't look like too much damage. Its on the front passenger side. The lip is crakced where the little grill peice goes and the bumper has some scratches and it is sticking out where it meets the headlight. I'll post some pics later today. I just wanted some advice on repairs. Well I defintely need a new lip, but I dunno if I wanna get a new bumper becuase I'm afraid it won't match the car exactly. What do you guys think? Any opinions would be very much appreciated.

BTW: This really SUCKS!!!!

if it's not any more than you describe, a good body man can repair it. i have a new front bumper (some nuckle head backed into me) anyway, it fit/matched perfect. the key is the body shop and the person doing the work!

We have MICA paint on our cars ...

Mica paint doesn't fade like typical paints, and the formulas are set, meaning any body shop can match them PERFECTLY. What I'm saying is that you shouldn't have to worry about it not matching, any more so than how it didn't match when it was new (ie. the plastic parts take to the paint different than the metal ones).

My friend got a big enough ass wopping from his parents, they aren't letting him drive anymore until he buys his own car with his own insurance and everything. I went to a body shop yesterday and they said that the car was too new and they didnt have any of the parts in their database so they couldn't give me an estiamte until they got the part numbers and everything. The guy also said that I might have to buy the bumper and lip as a set, I think this is total BS but if its true its really gonna suck for my friend because he has to pay for evreything.

Thanks Albert, I just needed someone to say that it would match perfectly. Plus the bodyshop that I'm using does mainly high end cars, Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Lexus, all the good stuff, so I'm confident they will do a good job. I also happen to know the owner, his son is a friend of mine, so I'm sure he'll take care of me.

Hey y0sky, don't you like your autoexe lip? I think your car looks great btw.

From the picture it looks like you don't even see the demarcation between the lip and the bumper. Altough its a small pic.

Thanks for the link Karl, I will probably be goping to the dealer today so I will post what I find out.

y0sky-I'll mine to you but there is a little crack where the little grill peice snaps in. I'm not sure but it doesn't look like it effects anything. Heres a pic:

It's really hard to see the scratches in any of these pics. The only place that the paint is completly gone is on the lip. Most of the black marks on the bumper are bugs. Damn mosquitos!

Your damage looks really minor, i don't think you need to buy a new lip? But thats you.

Btw is the lip glued to the bumper or is it clipped inside the fog holes? As i will probably be cutting off some of the plastic inside the fog holes if i get that lip.

The lip is held in by screws on the bottom and in the wheel well. I don't think there are any screws or clipse where the fog lights would be.

Actually, I just looked at the pics again and it does look like there is something holding it on there. I'll have to take a look at it later and I'll let you know.

The more i look at it the harder it looks itll be to fit those big MP3/MSP 2003 fog lights in there :). It looked easier when i checked it out at the dealer lol.

My lip is actually the DGM lip. It has too many stress cracks in it and is a little too low for my car. I scrape it everywhere. The gaps in the front between the bumper and lip get on my nerves too. You can't see the gaps because the pics are small.
