This is actually what I was pondering too... except another possibility is if you put the 3rd row carseat on the opposite side as the 2nd row, you can use the free 2nd row seat to flip forward and access the 3rd row carseat a little easier... if you can follow that. our kids are old enough to walk and climb into their carseats... so this setup works really well for us...
