Pro 5 2002
I just got off the phone with a guy with whom i think i am ggoing to buy a protege5 from. This 5 comes with the gold package is a 2002. Has 28500 miles on it so you know it wasn't hardly ever driven. it has the optional pad cover in the back and also a bumper protector in the back so you don't scratch the bumper when removing things(this is good for my since i snowboard). It also has the mazda optional rearview mirror that tells temperature and direction and also auto dims. Good tires and it has an immaculate interior. Overall the car is tight and it is the one I have been looking for. I think I can get it for $11700. Does this sound like a reasonable price? let me know?

Did he ever explain what the "gold package" is? Also depending on the options you may be able to do better on the price.

Sounds fair. Again, what other options are there. I am unfamiliar with the "gold package." Never heard that term before.

first you need to find out what the "gold package" is........all i can think of is gold badges, but they didnt make them for the p5 (dunno).

The gold package is simply having all the lettering and mazda insignia on the car in gold. And as far as options... (hand) i wrote those down already. You must understand that kelly blue book on this car with all the options is 12,950 and from a dealer it is 14gs. this sounds like a decent price and plus I know this guy really well and how he treats his cars......keep letting me know i still have about a month till i can buy it.

Cool, so nothing like a roof-rack, sunroof, factory alarm, leather, etc.? I checked on Edmunds and you can go as low as 10,600 private party.

That's what I meant by "options". But I'll assume that some of that stuff is in the deal. In any case you'll get no naysayers about the P5 here, we all love it to death. Go for it :D

Sorry kolashaker...it does have sliding sun roof. CD and cassette side air bags no leather or alarm.

honestly i wouldnt pay for than 10,500 with that mileage.....yeah KBB may be 12+ but that doesnt mean anything when negotiating really....i have an 03.5 from the dealer with every option except the moonroof and got it for 13,700.....thats only 2k more than yours for 2 yrs newer, had 7 miles on it and had every friggin option except the roof like i said.

That and the dealers in AZ were blowing out old 02's for like 10 or 11 9 months ago when I moved, has to be the same or lower now.

Yes, sounds like a good deal. You've come to the right place if you end up buying, btw, this is teh bestest car forum evar (nana)

no offense but who cares if your mirror tells you the temp. outside. Here in Florida its always blistering hot, i dont need any "gold package" to tell me its in the 90's outside.

The price seems a bit high, as said before, I'd try and get them down to the low 10s.
I bought my 02 p5 about a month ago, 30k miles and got it for 9800. Not as many options as yours, but that shouldn't bump the price up almost 2 grand!
