agreed...advances timing to equal out with fuel delivery(but doesnt do) fuel delievery is the same.mazdaspeed75 said:

Engine "bogging" at 4-5k rpm...
Just started happening about a week ago. The engine "bogs" for a couple of seconds while going through the 4000-4500k rpm range. It happens in 1st - 4th gears (haven't been that high in 5th). I'm not at WOT either. I checked all the hoses, and everything seems tight.
Just was wondering if anyone else has experienced it. Heading to the dealer some time this week.

I've had the reflash ECU done also. Mine still bogs occasionally. (bang) It's gotta be something in that s*** ECU program of ours. (burn) I hope that the 2nd reflash, which my dealership said would be available in July, fixes this once and for all. (confused) It would be nice if they would give us little more power too. (drinks) If you find out otherwise please let me know. (pissed)

i spoke to an instructor at seqouia who is freinds with the guy who wrote the program for the msp's computer,and they recognize there is a problem with the ecu.they also know that the flash isn't the best fix for it.So they came up with a better way to fix it.
they are creating another flash that will adjust the ignition timing aswell as fuel curve
In short,a permenent fix,unlike the old flash that only adjusted the fuel by leaning it out and not retarding it at all
I was told that the only catch is we need to wait till about july.
I'm going to wait to buy any type of stand alone or piggy back till this comes out ,who knows it might actually work correctlly. (nuts)

Yea, I "supposedly" (no sticker or anything) got the flash too. I don't think this "bog" has anything to do with the "hesitation" issue that the flash temporarily fixed. This just started happening to me. And it's not WOT, whereas the hesitation was. It feels like it's not getting enough air or the mixure isn't right at those rpm's.travisto said:
Maybe I should try and reset the ecu? The guy said he "reprogramed" the ecu lastime I was in for my windshield. I noticed none of my settings on the radio changed. Are they supposed to reset it after the flash?

After mine was flashed I noticed that my radio was programed as it had been before. It appears they didn't needed to disconnect the battery after the flash. I'm thinking that the equiment they use to reprogram the PCM can clear the Keep Alive Memory (KAM).d_stickney said:

I think what is meant is, Mazda didn't go in and change the fuel maps, just the timing maps.03MSPRO said:
Bumping the timing up changed how well the fuel was burned and changed the subsequent A/F ratio.

lol there are alot of characteristics that affect it....FUEL WAS NOT TAMPERED WITH...
Uhh, the original flash advances timing a few degrees, it DOES NOT alter the fuel curver, but rather, how efficient fuel combustion is, since timing is advanced.MSP#735 said:
And like it was stated in the other thread, there has been no reliable info on the new flash supposed to be released in july.
Until we get better word from Mazda, i doubt there is a new flash coming out.

Working on my own program
I have obtained the program from the Mazda dealership where i work, i am trying to work with it. ill keep everyone posted on what i find. i know that the WDS can correct the a/f ratio on the 1.6L protege's but i will mess with my 03 MSP and see what i find.

Ok, so let me get this straight. I should just go to my dealership and tell them I want to have my ECU reflashed and they will know what the hell im talking about??? Was this a recall of some sort or was it just a "known" fact among MSP owners? I dont wanna go in there and ask to have the reflash done and then have them have no idea what the hell im talking about and not be able to get it.
