A Sad Goodbye

Well it is with sadness I post this message. Reality has caught up to me. I was hoping it would be a long term relationship with my 5 but with having to lug around 4 teenagers that won't stop growing (even growing taller than me) I traded in the 5 on a new Odyssey. The kids were gracious enough to never complain about space but they are now in awe of how much room they have to move around. I will definitely miss the zoom-zoom factor of the 5 and how it did everything I wanted it to and more without any complaints or problems. I'll still be making appearances in the CX-5 forum, as I will be holding onto that one for a long time (so the wife tells me). I have truly enjoyed reading all the posts and trying some of the tips and tricks that people have posted as well. With that, I bid goodbye, at least for this forum.

Mz5 is not going to work with 4 teenagers (+ I assume 2 adults) full time. Toddlers and pre teenies –yes. Sounds like the right decision. Good luck with Oddy. Soon you’ll be an empty nester and can get back to numero uno! I would love a minivan (I like the Quest) but trying to find parking for these behemoths in the city is a no go. I envy Fiat 500 (and I DD a Fit)!

Yeah, I think 6 full-sized people in a Mazda5 full time is definitely a logistical challenge. I'm lucky - mine are spaced apart enough that I should never have more than 2 full-sized kids at home at the same time. By the time the youngest can sit in the back, the 2nd oldest will be needing to move to the middle, and by the time the 3rd-in-line needs to move out of the back, the oldest should be out of the house.

That said, I am still thinking a Flex is in our near-term future. Not sure if I can justify keeping the "Runabout" alongside the big siblings (Volvo P2 -> Ford C2 while the Ford C1 -> Mazda3/Mazda5) unless I ditch the truck. If the truck goes, we'll be without a "bugout vehicle," making us ordinary urbanites who will be at the mercy of the authorities in the event of a natural or man-made disaster.

i feared OP's reality a while back and went to see the urologist after 2. god speed in that van.

Ouch. We stopped at 2 kids, so the 5 will be around for a looooooong time.

As far as the Odyssey, it CAN be converted to stick, and there are suspension mods available that will make it dance a little better. :)
