A few quick questions

Some of you may remember that I bought an MP3 late this summer and I'm loving it. After having it for awhile, I've thought of a few things I would like to do with it and a question. So here it goes:

1- I want to put some sort of racing stripe on it, but I'm not entirely sure what exactly I want and if I want a vynl or to paint it on. My friend has all the equipment I would need to paint it besides the paint. I would probably install the vynl/ paint myself with the help of my friend.

2- I also plan on adding some blue INTERIOR neon. I want to wire it to the dome light and was just wondering what kits were best. LEDs are really what I'm looking for.

3- The previous owner took out the sway bar, and I wanted to know if this significantly effects handling?

4- Finally, are there any other cheapish upgrades that would be recommended?

1- this is the first I have ever heard of someone wanting to put stripes on a protege. To each their own I guess
2- I thought neon and LEDs were a thing of the past now, but I guess not. You must be all show, no go
3- the sway bar is there for a reason. If you aren't into handling and performance, it shouldn't be a problem but I would find a replacement just because I wouldn't want to downgrade anything on the car. Find an OEM replacement or better.
4- you have to pay to play. You really don't want to cheap out on anything with these cars. and what kind of "cheapish" upgrades are you looking for?

Yeah now that I think about it a black or grey hood would look better.

I'm really not all show but being a poor highschooler limits my ability to buy expensive upgrades for performance. If you can think of any performance upgrades worth my time for less than $300 let me know.

That wasn't my choice I was kind of mad when I figured out he took it out. Apparently a squeak over speed bumps was just too annoying :/

you could always start with the average bolt ons like intake, exhaust, and headers. Intake and headers can be had for under 300(each). The exhaust might be slightly more. You can do some more suspension work, springs and underbody bracing. What is your overall goal for the car?

For a NA 2.0, most "performance mods" wont actually do much. With a cold air intake, header, and cat back exhaust you might gain 5whp lol. If I were you, get the sway bar and replace the engine mounts. Other things such as lowering springs, Short Shifter, and better rubber will make the car just that more fun!

For the engine mounts, they will not add any power obviously, but they will reduce wheel hop as well as engine rocking under hard acceleration/shifting.

Please explain how a black or grey hood would look better then a hood painted the same colour as the rest of the car? If it's for that "carbon fibre look", don't. Ultimate rice mod...
